Popular Post OzMick
Oh well, that's something to look forward to; certainly justifies the expense of the trip. My little inter-active children's game "Where in the World is Yingluk Shinawatra" looks like it might need links to Encyclopedia Brittanica and World Atlas. Might have to be upgraded to university level as her destinations become increasingly obscure. The good news is the the frustrating and increasingly futile goal, to catch her in parliament, remains as difficult as ever. (MCOT online news) Do you need a Prime Minister of a country that is in recession to witness this?? Unbelievable! Thailand is in a mess both politically and economically and the PM goes to Tajikistan. I really can't believe all of this. At least she is wearing red.

Yes, BBC Business News reports the country is in recession, IN Channel quoted depressing financial figures which are expected to get worse and Thai Airways staff union calls on the whole board to resign over mismanagement which caused an B6.4 Billion loss in the 2nd quarter yet the PM is off visiting a country most Thais have never heard of.. In most countries there would be hell to pay for the government but not here and there won't be even when they bankrupt the country as there is no accountability. Not to worry though as the family money will be ok.

webfact
TAJIKISTANPM promotes Thailand's water management effortsPiyanart SrivaloThe NationTajikistan - Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra has called for all stakeholders to team up together to resolve the world's water problems."Unfortunately, nearly a billion people around the world cannot access clean water," she said.Yingluck was delivering her speech to the High Level International Conference on Water Cooperation in the Republic of Tajikistan and told of Thailand's efforts at water management. She was invited by President Emomalii Rahmon of Tajikistan who earlier paid an official visit to Thailand and attended the 2nd AsiaPacific Water Summit in May.Representatives from over 30 countries are taking part in the conference.Citing a World Development Report, Yingluck said by the year 2030, about 47 percent of the world’s population would be living in areas with serious water problems." [They] would be the main cause of several political conflicts and war in the near future," she said. Yingluck quoted the World Metrological Organisation as reporting that climate change and natural disasters like floods and tsunamis - as well as rising global temperatures and sea levels - would also be a threat to human life around the world." We cannot live in this world in the midst of fear of natural disaster. That’s why we need to help each other to handle these challenges before it is too late," she said. The PM said Thailand would invest $US12 billion (Bt379 billion) to build a water management project based on the restoration of the ecosystem balance concept. The government would also manage water resources for agricultural and industrial sectors.Under this scheme, floodways and natural canals would be used to manage Thailand's water resources. Forest restoration is also a top priority to mitigate the impact of soil erosion.Yingluck said Thailand was developing a water and flood information centre to predict weather conditions and flood waterflow. Real time satellite imaging, closed circuit television, and computer modelling will enhance the capacity to predict and prevent natural disasters. The PM said Thailand would support the integrated water and related resources managementbased Basin Development Strategy run by the mekong River Commission. It was aimed at managing the water resources in Lan Chang and the mekong River which is the longest waterway in the Southeast Asia region.-- The Nation 2013-08-

TackyToo
I assume most of the people in Tajikistan don't even know where Thailand is and have no access to information about the LOS. Hence, it's probably the last region to find customers for rotten rice.

lostmebike
Yingluck was delivering her speech to the High Level International Conference on Water Cooperation in the Republic of Tajikistan and told of Thailand's efforts at water management And what water management might that be then? The same management that involves blocked drainage up and down the country. The very same water management where the rivers and tributaries are at most 2 metres deep and have never been dredged? Or the flood defence program that is rife with officials putting project funding, government money into their own pockets??? Something to be proud of there YL! 'Thai Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra and her entourage were on an official trade talk visit' or another expense-busting jaunt?
Soutpeel
Is rice part of the staple diet in Tajikistan ?....if so, one suspects Dear Yingluck is trying to find new countries to flog dodgy Thai rice to in an attempt to reduce Thailand Riceburg...
