Buddhist home altar

Recommended Posts

I got my altar going on top of the fridge.

Big B cost my 900 bt. He's made of Teak.

I know it's supposed to be higher then oneself out of respects for Big B himself.

One dish of fruit. ( I know, the bananas are going from mushy brown to hard stone black ).

One thing of water.

Joss sticks.

Candle.

I don't know what else I am supposed to do, nor how long fruit is supposed to be left out.

And no. I don't do any sacrifices.

Here's a pic of mine. Please share a pic of yours.

Any advise of what else I need, is appreciated.

I imagine it is a bit of a personal thing here.

That's the stuff....

Get the paraphernalia and the rituals right and you'll be a good Buddhist before you can say 'attachment'.

So you are born on a Thursday.

7days-buddha.jpg

Thursday
"The Meditating Buddha" - Pang Samti
The Thursday Buddha image is sitting in a full lotus position with soles upward and visible, the hands resting in the lap, right above left with all fingers extended, palms upward (the dhyani mudra).

After receiving bundles of grass from Sotthiya , he scattered it and made it as seat under the Banyan tree. He made a vow “ Skin , sinew and bone may dry up as they will , my flesh and blood may dry in my body , but without attaining completed enlightenment , I will not leave this seat.” With his strong determination, he achieved enlightenment. .

If you were born this day:
You are peaceful, calm and honest, likely to be a teacher or in the legal profession. Your lucky day is Sunday and lucky colour is orange. Your unlucky day is Saturday and unlucky colour is black

^ Oh, you must be the resident Grand Inquistor. What is that does make a 'good Buddhist' then, oh wise and noble one?

You are asking the wrong person, go read what the Bhudda had to say on the subject and seek your own path.

We did some renovations after we moved back from Oz and amongst other things, built an extra bedroom on top of the never-used balcony.

It was a very large balcony, so as well as the bedroom, we constructed a Buddha Room at the front. My wife loves it!
