Western's opinion of Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi,

I'm Thai student in England. I'm currently working on my dissertation on the topic about Thai tourism.

Since most of you here if not all have been to Thailand before, it would be really helpful if you could share with me your experience.

I want to know what do you think about Thailand in terms of tourism. Is Thailand a cultural and/or a sex destination?

For cultural destination e.g. You know Thailand about its food, you have heard about the cultural and people, you have heard/experienced about the unique traveling experience and etc.

For sex destination e.g. You have heard about prostitution in Thailand, you can ealisy go out and buy sex, pingpong show and sex show in Thailand and etc.

If you could also share your opinion before and after you've arrived at Thailand, that would be appreciated.

I hope I'm not breaking any forum rules. I would really appreciate your insight. Thank you.

wadee wadee wadee...

If you are a student, you should know how to differentiate between empirical fact and opinion. If you are serious about collecting information and transform opinions to empirical studies to support an assertation, may I suggest tools like http://freeonlinesurveys.com/

I can answer all your questions above, but in it's current form my replies are worthless since they would only represent unstructured gibberish.

Set up a proper survey using the site suggested above and I promise to provide answers.

Good luck with your studies.

I can confirm that every destination in the world provides services for those in search, even Kidderminster and Norwich. I've never been to either but it's there if you so wish.

I know sex trade exists in every part of the world. But I'd like to know the image of Thailand when it comes to tourism.

I am Thai and I lived in the northern part of the country before I moved here. I have not seen much protitutions in my area.

I have heard and read many foreigners talk about my country and they believe that Thailand is a destination when you want to buy cheap sex.

If you have evidence or opinion that would support or counter this statement about Thailand, I would much appreciate it.

With a dissertation based on the above, what career are you looking for post-graduation?

I'd love to help you in your research but when joining Thai Visa I agreed to abide by the rules of the forum, well I try to anyway most of the time facepalm.gif and according to the rules posted below..

18) Not to discuss the specifics of prostitution.Thailand has a visible sex industry, and acknowledgment of that fact is not forbidden. However ThaiVisa is not the place to seek or give information on this topic, regardless of your sexual habits, preferences or orientation.

So sorry about that but being a tight Yorkshire man, I'm saying nowt..wink.png

I don't find the questions in the OP particularly coherent. You should be glad I'm not your professor. coffee1.gif My advice: start over.

I don't think you've got a dissertation topic. I think maybe it would be good for a Thaivisa poll.

Thank you everyone who commented on my topic. Ignore the sex tourism, if you could share the positive things about Thailand that you have heard or experienced, it would be of great help.

Nice food and people.

Sorry but this isn't a dissertation topic. It's a wishy washy and unspecific set of gibberish questions that will be hard for most people to answer.

I'd get your tutor to give you some advice on your question and topic before you do any more 'research' because you'll fail your dissertation with what you have now.
