60 Days as tourist required. Easiest way ?

Featured Replies

Hi guys, nice easy one for many of you but I can't find the answer easily so here goes.

I am British and I need to stay in Thailand 60 days as tourist. I have booked my air ticket already ( Heathrow to Bangkok Leaving UK mid Oct , return to UK mid Dec) .

Do I need to get the '30 day extension' to get my 60 day stay here in England before I go, or at Bkk airport on arrival?

Which is easier/cheaper. And how do I go about it ?

..Many thanks....Roland

Make your entry into Thailand, near the end of your 60 day stay, go to the nearest immigration office an apply for the extension. I assume you mean you will have obtained the Tourist Visa before departing the UK.

You want to stay for 60 days and currently don't hold a visa. if you travel to Thailand you only get 30 days (but the airline might not allow you to board as your flight back is later than 30 days and you do not hold a visa.

You must apply for a tourist visa at one of the Thai consulates in the UK, such as Hull. You can apply by mail there and their website has all instructions. With the tourist visa you can stay for 60 days and can even get a 30 days extension for 1,900 baht from immigration in Thailand.

I agree with Mario2008 -you should apply for a single entry tourist visa at the Thai consulate in your homecountry. Withtout the visa, you risk being refused boarding by your airlines, and if you do manage to fly and receive a 30 day visa exempt stamp - any extension would be only 7 days - you would have to leave Thailand by air in the middle of your trip to get another 30 days. You should definitely get the tourist visa.

Ok thanks guys. Ok I will apply from UK .I live in Dorset so Hull is a long way away . Does anyone have the address to send it to and also is there an online application form? I guess it wont take too long to get it?

Ok, thats nice & easy , looks like I would be better off with the 'non immigrant' visa as my wife is thai , I then get 90 days per entry and one year multiple re-entry for £125 ! thanks again.

A lot of missleading answers here. The only right one is the one from Global moderators. Get your 60 day visa in the UK and your problem is resolved.

An which part is inaccurate or misleading?

Go on-line to the Hull Thai consulate website.

They have all the info there, including the forms to download.

They will use the British post to send the forms and get the passport with visa in it returned to you.

Call the Thai consulate in Hull (their number is on the website) and they can answer most of your questions.

I am an American citizen, and when I got my Thai visa from Hull I was actually working in Greece.

I made it from Greece to Hull and got my visa from them.

Not to be rude, but how is it you can't use British Rail to get from Dorset to Hull, if I managed it from Greece?

Of course I did have to fly from Athens into Heathrow first, but from there it was easy.

Not being critical, as I said above, but if I can do it (being a dumb Yank), why can't you?

Make an appointment in Hull, show up on a normal work day for that appointment you booked, and you'll have your visa in less than an hour.
