newermonkey
I won't comment on how ridiculous or impossible the statement is but if it works PLEASE do the same for Pattaya, the place is infested with drug dealers, just do a Thaksin job on them please. Cats4ever
And actually where they need to start first is with all the corrupt police and government officials that allow drugs into and onto the streets of Thailand to begin with! Who lets it onto the streets in every other country? Corruption is not peculiar to Thai.
thequietman
ok, here's a helpful hint to all. Next time you travel into your local town where ever that may be. Look around you at all the shops and business units. Look to see if there are ever any customers in them. See up to 4 staff sitting around doing nothing. You have probably said to yourself before, "how the hell do they make any money?" Laundry anyone ? This statement is all gas and air as is most things here. Show without substance. Zolt
Legalize it, tax it and control it. That way users and abusers can come forward. The mafia business behind it will suffer massive losses, and will slowly disappear. Police can focus on more important issues. Drug abuse is a social problem, not a criminal one. Putting drug offenders in jail just escalates their problems. Sorry but no. Just no. We're not talking recreational pot here. In Thailand, the drug problem means crystal meth and heroin. Sure, criminalizing the users doesn't help much but no way they should just put this on the open market.

Arkady
Another crackdown which is supposed to solve a problem 100% within a short period of time like Thaksin's pledge to solve Bangkok traffic within 6 months. Bangkok and other large cities in the world will always have drug problems with drugs as long as the drugs remain illegal.

If more people thought as you do, the 'drugs problem' would wither on the vine. It wouldn't happen overnight, since the 'war on drugs' has created a massive problem, however in a couple of decades it would come down to manageable proportions. You will never eradicate drugs - human nature will see to that; but the damage caused can be easily reduced to minimal levels if the right approach is adopted. Timwin
In worst case this will start a vicious drug war like in Mexico. Tens of thousands of deaths and no end in sight.

MobileContent
Thats precisely why we need the man back, his attitude to drugs are utterly ruthless. a lot of innocents went missing you say? the big question is would you sacrifice 1000 to save one million. And if you or some of your family happen to be included in the 1000 sacrificed to meet somebody's quota........... your answer would be ? I knew two drug pushers and also the parents didn't agree to the killings but the other family members thought it was the right thing to do plus almost all from the village. They actually gave a warning here in Isaan to those drug pushers. The wife and hubby that got killed had several houses and pickups, an SUV, two Kubota and plenty of land all over Isaan. Job well done !
