Popular Post andrew
About me I've been in business here in Thailand since about 2006. Prior to that, I did other things. Some people on this forum know who I am. I am one of the best in my industry. I have clients all around the world; I am the only person in my industry to work directly with the Royal Thai Government. A bit of history Recently I had a client. He was a farang. I knew from the outset that things were wrong. The guy was hopelessly incomptetent. When I phoned him, his girlfriend picked up. XXXXXXXXXX The guy lived in what he described as a "small apartment". He didn't even have internet access. The outcome Things went wrong with this client. He complained; insulted; widened the goalposts; refused to pay on completion. Then he made threats. He said he would write negative reviews about my company on review sites. And he did. I'm obviously "au fait" with reputation management; I can handle this nonsense; I can actually grow stronger as a result. But it's still an annoying waste of time. Jealousy and insanity Ultimately, the fault was probably mine. I took on a client who I had very serious doubts about. It turned out that the client was a nutcase. He was riddled with jealousy and resent. I believe that some farangs in Thailand may harbor a deep-rooted dislike for those of us who do well Be warned I guess you don't really need to be warned. I guess that most of what I've written is obvious. But it may be prudent to remember that some farangs here in Thailand really are hopeless failures and lunatics. These people may very well attempt to damage your reputation if they have the chance. Popular Post kandi
And where is the news? You'll find these kind of people in every country. Bad luck, in the end you can never be 100% sure about people. But good to see that this one incident made "many farangs in Thailand lunatics".

But I do believe that the average farang in Thailand can not be compared to the average farang back in, let's say, England or America. You know the truth as well as I do: Thailand attracts the rubbish. If you're in business (and I'm guessing that you're probably not), it's important to remember this. These points stated, I think that many business owners will be aware of these issues already. This thread is simply a reminder.

lemoncake
OP, try being in hotel industry Esteemed guests in cheapest rooms believe that they are VIP customers and hotel should bend backwards to service them- naturally for free. Hotel rules should not and do not apply to them. And should hotel not do whatever they want, you should see the reviews.

Popular Post WitawatWatawit
The use of the word "many" is a minefield. You're an idiot for choosing it because every sane and sensible foreigner reading this thread will still take it as a personal attack on them. "Many" casts a broad net. And just what the heck are you talking about, anyway? Could you be any vaguer? No specifics, no details, no focal point to your b1tch. Just a puerile rant that seems more designed to prove your superiority. Not impressed at all.

He'd be kicked back, relaxed, and enjoying the good life. And he wouldn't need to come on ThaiVisa to tell everyone how successful he is.

BuffaloRescue
Couldnt agree more. Yes - jealousy. There are a LOT of jealous farangs around with serious chips on their shoulders. Reasons for jealousy: You earn more You are younger than them/better looking You have a nicer girlfriend You pay your girlfriend nothing or more/less than they do You have a car You are a nice person, they are not. etc etc

I tell her she's Malaysian/Chinese but she screams and says "No I THAI, I have Thai ID card and Thai Passport"... I try to explain she has no Thai blood in her but she is fully Thai according to her.... What's everyone else think... I must be a lunatic... I think she's right, she's Thai, and you're a very naughty boy for winding her up. Tai are a people, Thai is a nationality. It just so happens that Mercedes Girl's ( my lady ) father was full blood Chinese, and her mother Thai. She talks about her Chinese grandfather very fondly, her Chinese Grandmother died when she was very young. Her father is still living. Although her Dad was Chinese, ( now a Thai national ) she considers herself to be Thai and British. ( she lived in the UK for 23 years, she has two Thai / English sons ). It confuses the life out of me. When Scotland played England the other week she was English, when Andy Murray won Wimbledon she was British and so was he. She takes me to obscure Chinese cafe's that her Dad shows her, and she'll sit there and rabbit away at me about politics. If I ask her what she thinks is going to happen she'll say I don't care cos I'm British, but if I criticize Thailand I get, " Do you mind, I am Thai". It's got to the point I need to ask her which nationality she's talking on behalf of when we have a conversation. When she goes to the Temple all dressed in white she is Thai, but when she comes out she reaches for a bottle of red wine. I say to her that she is supposed to be a good Thai lady and she says the good Thai lady goes to the Temple, now I'm British. I wish she was like your lady MB1 and just said she was Thai and that was it. I can't keep up.
