How to stay 1 year in thailand for Mexican

Featured Replies

Hi,

There will be a visa requiremet for mexican wanting to travel thailand. Wht is the best way that i can stay there at least a year without coming back to mexico to get another 90 days visa as it will be waste of time and money. I plan to be staying in thailand most of the time, and will travel laos, vietnam, cambodia etc during the time. But i dont seem to be able to do that, if i get single entry or even triple entry. What im worrying is when my visa expired and i wont be allowed to enter the country unless i go back to mexico to reapply visa? Am i correct? Your help or any recommendation would be much appreciated,

How old are you?

Im 32.

Mexican citizens are not eligible for visa exempt entry nor visa on arrival, so you must begin your journey with a Triple Tourist Visa obtained from the Thai Embassy in Mexico.

That visa should have a validity of six months from date of issue. You can enter Thailand up to three times during that period. Each entry will be for 60 days and can be extended locally by another 30 days. So, with careful timing, you could spend a total of more than eight months in Thailand using that visa and making two quick trips across a land border. You could make additional trips to neighboring countries during any of these 60 and 30 day segments of time by purchasing a Single Entry Re-Entry Permit at a local Immigration office and coming back to Thailand before that segment (that Permission To Stay interval) has come to an end.

So, that's roughly eight months handled. You could then travel to Vientiene, Laos, spend at least one night, and get a second Tourist Visa. This one would only be a Double, with a validity for use of only three months. You would follow the same processes as with the Triple and get a total of roughly six additional months in Thailand.

All of that would require a good deal of precise planning, and the fees for the visas, the extensions, and Re-Entry Permits would add up, but it is the correct way to accomplish your stated goal.

Thanks for your suggest, Majongguy

It will be a stressful trip. I have some doubts per below.

1. As I have heard that to enter from land, they will give us only 15 days but by plane, we will be given 30 days. Do i misunderstand something? What if i get triple entry as you said, and i leave to cambodia and when i re enter they will give me 15 days. That means i lose my entry just for 15 days permission.

2. How many times will i be able to extend the each 30 days at the immigrant office in bangkok?

3. Can i actually apply for the tourist visa in other country, as you mentioned i could re apply for double entry in Laos. I was told that i would need to do it in mexico only. I am unclear about this too.

4. Can I change my visa type to Ed visa or whatever from my tourist visa in bangkok?

5. A friend of mine who is thai told me that if i have money in any thai bank for 400,000 bth, they will give me for 12 month visa. Is it true?

Apologies for too many questions, as i need to be sure before booking the flight. I really want to go there!

Million thanks!!!!!! Regards

1. If you have a Tourist Visa you will get 60 days.

2. Each entry can be extended at Immigration once, so a total of 3 times.

3. Not sure about Mexicans.

4. You can always register with a Thai language school and get an Ed Visa.

5. No, it is not true

Thank you for a quick revert back to me litebeer,

Per the question number 4, for example, i roughly assume that i go with the tourist visa, they will stamp 60 days at the airport and another 30 days i will do at the immigrant office before the expired date, and after that i find a qualified school in bangkok, i enroll, so i then can change to ED visa there, right? Or do i need to go back and run the ED visa in mexico?

Thanks again!!

5. In order for that to work, you would have to be married to a Thai. If you have the money I'm sure that you can find someone to marry you!

Actually if julieta is a lady she would not need money in the bank if marrying a Thai man.wink.png

Have a look here for Thai language school information.

And visa exempt entry is not available so there is no 30 day entry by air and 15 day by land option available - she must have a visa for entry and schools do not issue visas (even when they appear to say otherwise).

1. The 15 or 30 days are for visa exempt entries and you do not qualify for them because Mexico is not on the list. For any type of visa entry you get what is allowed by the visa.

2. You can get one 30 day extension for each entry allowed by your visa.

3. You should check with embassy in Vientiane. But I think yes.

4. Very unlikely. Immigration seldom do them. But if 3 is yes it is no problem to get a visa outside the country.

5. Wrong

Thank you very much everyone for the useful infos!

I gathered that i apply for tourist visa here in mexico then fly there and i will find a qualified school to get all paper for applying the ED visa, then i go to Laos to change my type of visa to the ED one so that i can stay one year without worries, Correct?

And for the ED visa, i can exit and enter thailand freedomly? Like a multi one?

I am so sorry if my silly question would annoy yo guys! I am really new to thailand!!!

With correct paperwork no problem.

After you get an extension of stay from immigration can get a re-entry permit either a single for 1000 baht or multiple 3800.

Dependent on school you attend and where you will live you will get extensions for 90 days to 1 year.

Nonsense post removed.

You can not stay more than 90 days on any visa entry and ED visa would not be multi entry so any travel would require re-entry permits prior to leaving and a student for language would likely require new extensions every 90 days with proof of class attendance/school paperwork required and new TM.7 and 1,900 baht fee.

Muchas gracias a todos!!

I quite understood the process!

At this stage i got no doubts!

If i have any more question, i raise it here or a new post needed?

Gracias!

Just make a new post here if you have more questions.

De nada

Actually post a new question in the area covered by what your question is - if visa related you can post here or better if a new subject on visa start a new topic here.

Amiga - for females - if I am not mistaken.

I have two Mexican friends who both got 1 year Non Imm B visa's, both working for a multi national, but was easy for them to do so.

Promise to open a great Mexican Restaurant in Pattaya and we will make sure that you get the Visa's needed!
