Need Some Translation Help

Featured Replies

Hello everyone

Just a side story, my grandfather passed away earlier this year in March due to Cancer. We never knew much of his history except for stories he and other family members have told us. He was born in Buriram, Thailand, was a buddhist monk for 8 years, joined the service for the Khmer army during the liberation from France and finally fled the country with his famiily during the Pol Pot Regime. All we have left of him is a single photo of his siblings and a book that he has had his whole life. Unfortunatley no one in my family is capable of reading Thai, so I was wondering if anyone on the forum can lend a hand. Im not asking for a word for word translation but I would just like to know what type of book it is. I took some photos below and any help is appreciated. Thank you.

I recognize these words very well. They're Buddhist prayers\ chants which are uttered every day by millions of schoolchildren after the raising of the National flag at 8.00am

The book seems to contain Pali chants and prayers. But it's written in a phonetic Thai.

Usually there's another way to write Pali using Thai script.
