Bringing and Registering a Motorcycle in Laos

Featured Replies

Sorry folks but I did a search first and all I could find was posts about bringing a vehicle into Laos etc. but nothing about if I could actually have it registered there as well in my name (if I plan on living there).

I have the green book etc. so if anyone has any ideas about who to contact etc. In Laos first or any first hand experience on doing this I would much appreciate any help.

Try talking to a guy named Jules, he runs a motorcycle rental place in Vientiane across the street from KhopJaiDeau. He brings motorcycles in from other countries so can probably tell you how it's done. I'm sure it involves money under the table.

Thanks mate but I'm in Pattaya. I have been researching and it seems that there are no bikes aloud in Laos over 250cc unless you are a Diplomat and for sure no choppers. Mine is a 600cc chopped to the tilt. lol

only big bikes i have seen in my travels confirm that , all had thai plates EXCEPT for a few outside this one shop near the fountain in downtown Vientaine that had a few old triumphs with laos plates
