August 31, 201313 yr Does anybody know why there are huge plumes of black smoke in the sky? I am looking from Ekamai. Location looks to be southern Bkk.... maybe Sathorn or Silom or maybe Thonburi. The smell is strong. I think it might be a petrol of some kind. Nothing in Bangkok Post or Nation or TV from what I can see.

September 1, 201313 yr Appears to have been some homemade housing just off the road. Walked by this morning to find people queueing for supplies from a government truck. Best wishes to those who lost their homes. Sent from my GT-N7100 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
September 1, 201313 yr According to the locals there were no people inside during the blaze. This morning I can see people digging through the rubble to see what can be salvaged, but the framework holding the roofing above their heads doesn't look very safe, so hopefully nothing collapses whilst they are in there.

September 1, 201313 yr Looks as if the fire service has done a good job of confining the blaze to a limited area. Sad that people have lost the very little they probably had though.

Actually, I thought they looked pretty incompetent, but I'm no expert. totster I'm not an official expert but my old man was a fire officer. Grew up around that sort of thing and, to be honest, I'm impressed with the effort by the BFD (or whatever they're titled).

They went for containment and succeeded at that.
