Can I get a tourist visa on a emergency passport?

Featured Replies

I have lost my passport and today I obtained an emergency passport from my embassy (The Netherlands) in Bangkok. This passport only has 6 pages and is valid for 1 year. Will the Thai embassy in Kuala Lumpur or Vientiane issue me a tourist visa if I would apply for one on this passport?

They should do it as long as it is a passport and not a travel document.

don't see why not but it will only be useful for getting visas for 6 months

as u need that much in it to get visas for most countries

I don't think so an emergency passport is for 1 trip and can be used within max. 1 year.

If it is valid for a year I am sure it is good for more than 1 trip.

An emergency travel document would only be good for a trip home.

OP better check with the Dutch embassy. A Dutch emergency passport is normally only valid for the trip it was issued for, as you ae expected to obtain a new a passport as soon as possible.

But if the passport doesn't say anything about restrictions, you should be able to get a visa. Read the information in the passport.
