Changing VISA within Thailand?

Featured Replies

Hello,

Thank you for reading my post!

I will be re-locating to Bangkok later this year and am evaluating my VISA options. I am thinking that the least fussiest VISA to apply for would be a student VISA (since I will enroll in a Thai language school anyway), though with the following questions:

1) Do I need to apply for the student VISA from my home country (Australia), or can I apply for this from any country? I am currently working overseas

2) In the event that I successfully apply for a student VISA and get hired by a company before my VISA expires (or start a business), can I get the student VISA changed to a Non Immigrant or Business VISA without leaving Thailand?

Thank you in advance for your advice!

In order to get the ED (student visa) visa you would need to have paper work from school which would require some money be paid to them.

It depends upon country you are in. Some embassies require residency for the country where you are applying to get a visa.

Most people get a tourist visa and then look for a school and then go to a nearby embassy or consulate to get the visa.

With a ED visa you would probably have to go out for a B visa if you want to work.
