dam_n you True Move: any advice greatly appreciated

Featured Replies

A couple of year ago I purchased a true move mobile SIM from the 7/11. I have been very happy with it because the credit is good for 12 months. I top it up by buying a slip from 7/11 an asking the cashier: "khun tam hai phom dai mai". She punches in the numbers from the slip (which are way too small for me to see...even with my glasses)...easy.

The only fault with True Move I had was that they constantly sent me spam.

Anyway I use this number as my primary number for SMS confirmation of transactions for online banking with my Thai, Australian, Singapore and USA bank accounts and with my Thai and Australia credit cards.

Early this year I purchased a second True Move SIM at 7/11 as I now have two phones:

1. A phone with the oldest True Move SIM that is linked to all of my bank and credit card accounts. I keep this in my fire proof safe and only get it out when doing an online transaction.

2. A phone with the newer True Move SIM that I use day to day. I figured if I lose this phone and SIM no great inconvenience...just buy a new one.

The second SIM that I purchased was exactly the same type (in the same packaging) as the first and was bought at the same 7/11.

Both phones are currently well topped up with credit.

Yesterday Phone no. 1 received a number of SMS from True Move but all of them were in Thai. Phone no. 2 received SMS from True Move but they were in English and advised that, as of today 15.09.13 the old service was changing over to H network.

This morning I awoke and tried to pay for an Air Asia flight online only to find that Phone no. 1 now reads "INVALID SIM" While phone no. 2 is still working and has been automatically ported over to a new network.

This is a catastrophe for me as it is a huge job to register a new phone number with all of my banks. The quick fix is to just go out and buy another SIM and then register it with my banks but I want to avoid that option at ALL COSTS.

Did anyone else have True Move sabotage their life and cut off their SIM card today, and, if so, what have to done, or plan to do, to address the problem.

I had one get cut off when I went back to the states for 3 months. But this was with 12Call. Had to buy a new sim.

I had the same thing happen to my phone today. My phone said invalid-sim but I rebooted the phone and it works like normal again.

Well done, just switched the phone on and off but didn't fix the problem. So switched it off, took the battery and the SIM card out and then put them back in switched on and HEY presto....the phone did a search and then came up with the new H network

Are you in the Phuket area, if so PM me and I will buy you a beer or lunch.

Yes wifey has had a problem with her old Nokia being switched to 'H' with no warning a few days ago. Trouble is on the tariff she was switched to the price of calls went up x4 so she was not happy.

After calling true(mai)care she was told the switch was connected with CAT taking the number away from true. Anyway, after several attempts by true staff she was eventually switched back to her old tariff.

Suggest calling the helpline.
