Extensions on Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

I am going to apply for a triple entry tourist visa. I know I can get three 1 month extensions and will need to do 2 border crossings. At the end of the first 2 months I can apply for the first 30 day extension. My question is, How long before the first 60 days stay can I apply for the 30 day extension.

You can go one week before, you lose no time on the current permitted to stay day date, the 30 days starts from then not when you make the extension.

Going early prevents any rare mishaps also.

Even 2 weeks is fine and you can do it at any immigration office.

Thanks for the replies. Could I go to the immigration office 3 or 4 weeks before the 60 day visa expires to get the extension. I plan on doing some travelling around Thailand and trying to work out a plan. I don't want to be thinking about getting the extension which would restrict my travelling.

It would depend upon the immigration office you go to. The rule for other extensions is within the last 30 days of your entry but some offices consider tourist visa differently.

You can find a list of offices by clicking on checkpoints which pulls down a menu for the regions of the country here. http://www.immigration.go.th/nov2004/en/base.php

You can download the TM7 application form by selecting download. Be sure you print it 2 sided.

I was planning on going to the Phuket Immigration Office before I go travelling. Whats the Phuket Immigration office like. If I go there 21-30 days before my visa expires will they give me the extension with no problems.

I would say yes. It would be worth a try at least.

as ubonjoe reminded me yesterday, dont forget that you must use your last entry within 6 months

I'm also getting a triple-entry visa and plan to extend it 30 days each visa-period at the immigration office on Koh Samui.

I tried to check the Koh Samui immigration webpage but all was in thai so I didn't get any wiser.

I have found the extension of VISA application so all good there.

Does anyone know which documents I need to attach to my application?

Is it 2 passport photos I need?

I know that the triple-entry is valid from 6 months after issue date only, so I plan to make my last entry within that time.

Thank you kindly!!

One 4cm X 6cm photo for application.

Copies of passport photo page ,visa and entry stamp plus TM6 departure card.

Thank you so much!!

So there is no need for copies of flight tickets?

For the triple-entry visa I need to show copies of all outbound plane tickets (3 tickets)

Tickets are not required for extension.
