george Posted April 23, 2006 Share Posted April 23, 2006 Phrae suffers damage as torrential rain kills one PHRAE: -- Heavy storms hit this northern province, claiming an aging man's life even as the meteorological department warned of widespread thunderstorms countrywide. Torrential rain, a hailstorm, and gusty wind damaged the provincial seat and Sung Men district in this northern province. A heavy downpour and strong winds caused a bicycle accident. The bicycle collided with an iron barrier by the roadside. The rider, Samien Phathong, 68 died at the scene of the accident. A one million baht decorative arbor built in an honour of Her Majesty the Queen's 72nd anniversary at Sungmengchanupratam School collapsed at a carpark but none were injured.
