Diseased plant

Recommended Posts

I tried again and the photo opened this time.

Unfortunately, it doesn't look like anything I've ever seen in the U.S.

I'm guessing it's either a fungus is the white powdery in appearance?( treat with a copper based fungicide and try to keep thefoliage dry) or insects/eggs is the white kind of a waxy substance? If so, spray with a general insecticide with a drop of dish soap added to the spray mix to help the spray penetrate the waxy coating.

Sorry I can't be of more help. These are only educated guesses.

Is there a local nursery you can take a sample to for better advise?

I may be able to help you. I am an arborist and a horticulturist.

But, I can not seem to open your photo to see it well.

If you send the photo to me in a PM I will do what I can for you.

Great little bugs aren't they?

Spray with a pyrethrin based solution - most aqny garden shop will have the stuff in varying strengths which you then dilute with water for the spray.

Another way is to make a detergent solution which will take a bit longer to wipe out these guys. 1/2 to a full capfull of dishwashing detergent to a liter of water. If you make it too strong it mimight burn the leaves a bit.

Make sure you spray the underside of the leaves as well. Keep an eye on the plants, and others in your collection, and repeat as needed.

Those little fuzzies will suck the juices from your plants until they kill the plant.
