angrybird
Just found this from a local motorshow mag. "Organizers expect firm orders for "more than 15,000 eco-cars" to be made at the show, as the low excise duty on such models makes them far more affordable than ever before at just under 400,000 baht (US$13,000)." Can anyone please advise what these vehicles are and how true it is please ?

culicine
Base models start at 380,000 baht or did And these are the bare bones models - without radios and some safety equipment, and manual transmissions. For Bangkok, it's better to go up to a base auto, say, about 430K baht.
ClareQuilty
Manual transmissions are going to be long term a lot more durable and less expensive to keep going than the autos, particularly the CVTs, besides which a 1.2-1.3 liter engine with an automatic is an utter dog.
piston broke
a 1.2-1.3 liter engine with an automatic is an utter dog. mmmmm, this guy doesn't doesn't seem to agree...... 'The Brio is the most advanced automatic car in its segment. The only one to sport a five speed transmission, it is practically more fuel efficient than the 4-speed units running in the competition. Not only is it comfortable but also very convenient to use if you encounter traffic on a daily basis' 'The convenience of the automatic in city driving is simply phenomenal and addictive too. it is definitely a great package for those who keep comfort and convenience on top priority.' http://www.motorbeam.com/cars/honda-brio/honda-brio-at-long-term-review-final-report/

As for the "utter dog" comment - while 80'ish HP doesn't sound much, when it's running through a reasonably efficient CVT like the Jatco, and pushing around less than 1000KG including driver, the performance around town is acceptable. A whole lot better than a 20yo MT Corollla, that's for sure

Thai brio gets a thumbs up from 'honest john', who states 'the Brio is a terrific little car' - and apparently has bought one for "a friend' in Thailand... his money, his choice.... http://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/honda/honda-brio-2011-road-test/

The Amaze gets OK comparative reviews to the Attrage but trails the Almera, but it's only the sponsored/fanboy reviews that will put the Brio on the top of it's hatchback competition.
