Popular Post itchybum
That works out at about 20 sets per boat. For a multi-billionaire I would not 'report' that he is concerned with the flood situation at all. It all another pathetic 'keep my name in the media and in the ears of the reds' stunt. Where are all the pumps that he 'bought' from Korea during the last floods? Don't the media want to spend time investigating that? edited to add" Soutpeel............snap! alt=biggrin.png width=20 height=20> Easy to criticize What did you donate to the flood victims? I flush my toilet 3 times every time I use it to help get rid of some of the water.
Dap
Were those the (Japanese donated) boats NOT distributed during the 2011 flooding? Just curious
Popular Post GentlemanJim
I live in Buriram and 6 days ago the authorities pleged compensation for the (now ongoing) floods. Fanfare was made and those affected were given a pathetic sack of a few tinned fish, a small bottle of cooking oil, and a few other non perishable items. The name of the donor, written on the outside of the sack I will not mention because of the draconian laws in this Country. They also registered all those who had their fields flooded, compensation of 2000bht plus a rai was mentioned. They are going to have to find a dam_n site more now since it's hardly stopped raining and there is more to come. I guess the problem here is that the 2000 baht per rai does not belong to the farmer, it belongs to the land owner, so unless the farmer owns the land (which is increasingly unlikely) then it is the wealthy land owner that gets the 2k per rai. Well Done Mr Thaksin its 2000 more packages of food donated than all those muppets dissing you on TV How do you have any idea what people on TV are or have donated? I take it the term 'Muppets on TV' refers to yourself. One tenth of my income every year is used directly in aid of people in need, mainly in rural Egypt, people that are in desperate poverty and hardship, some on a small project in Africa. That means that our friend Thaksin would need to donate 3 Billion Baht a year, not the minute amount required to purchase 2000 packets of dried food. I am glad you two are so easily impressed by Mr Thaksin, he certainly does not appear to have a Philanthropic bone in his body, he simply, and quite astutely, reckoned that by spending 40 000 baht on packets of dried food he would get the cheapest bought front page news possible - and it worked. He would have had more honour in doing nothing rather than spending a pittance for what was clearly designed as a publicity stunt.

It might be possible to avoid criticising Thaksin's puny contribution if he or his acolytes didn't have to put his name on the contributions. That just reduces it to PR.
Popular Post rubl
So much for red-shirts and UDD evolving beyond Thaksin. Better he'd use any other organisation for this humanitarian act. Involving 'his' UDD smacks of politics and hypocracy. IMHO.
itchybum
Thaksin has the brain of a worm...and what does that say about those that admire him so much. I always said that if the gimp had donated 7billion of his 77 billion or whatever it was he sold AIC for and made a big song and dance about it to fulfill his ego side and not tried to get away with NO tax whatsoever....he would most likely still be PM.....but, same same his followers, narrow mind, narrow vision.

I doubt the opposition had any access to the goods stored by the government.
bander
First he and his family make 350 billion baht in floodprevention-money "disappear"! And then he got the nerve to give dry food-packages to the victims of his theft. With 2000 packages, I wonder if the humble reciepiants are aware, that each foodparcel has cost the Thai taxpayers around 175.000.000 baht ! width=18 alt=w00t.gif> That money didn't disappear, it went into the "Help fugitive man in Dubai fund"
Valentine
Than what are Abhisit, Suthep, Korn and it's cronys doing other than complain! Nothing !!! How do you know they are doing nothing? During the last floods the Dems were out there giving & may well be doing so now but without the attendant publicity.
confirmed3
Unsurprising that in a thread about Red Shirts shamelessly touting Thaksin's despicable image on flood relief, we read: but, but, but Abhisit
Popular Post tonytigerbkk
Well Done Mr Thaksin its 2000 more packages of food donated than all those muppets dissing you on TV No it is not 2,000 packages more. The money to buy these packages is not his own money, it is the money that he robbed (and through his family continues to rob) from the Thai people. I have been paying taxes in Thailand for over 10 years now and it has always been one way (paying in and getting nada back in return). Therefore, in reality I have had more of a hand in these donations that Thaksin or the rest of his thieving croonies. On top of that I have also donated to past flood efforts. During the floods in Uttaradit in 2006 the company that I work for had one of our drivers take a van load of supplies to the region. Because we knew that these relief packages would get to the intended target, I personally emptied out my bank account and bought up the entire rice and drinking water stock from our local Foodland. I also went through my house finding any spare blankets or clothes that would be of use. The money I had remaining was used to start a collection within my company. Please tell me when Thaksin broke his bank to help anyone. In fact, please tell me when Thaksin has spent any of his own money at all since he first got into power. His current actions are another publicity stunt, in which he gives a pittance of the money that he stole back to the rightful owners. I did not feel the need to write my name on the donations nor did I even want the recipients were the donations had come from. I feel wrong for talking about this now because I did what I did because it was the right thing to do and I could just imagine being in the same situation. I am pretty sure that a lot of the members of Thai Visa have also made donations from their own pockets in times of national disasters. Therefore, I will accept in advance your apology for calling the Thai Visa members Muppets. Regards, Tiger.
