Driving Bangkok to Chiang Mai

Featured Replies

Has anyone driven or planning to drive from Bkk north via Ayutthaya, Ang Thong and on to Chiang Mai? Wondering if any of the roads were flooded?

just drove it today (29 Sept) no problems.

Thanks for the update.

Bkk to CM is a good stretch in a day even in dry weather. About 750kms IIRC. Did it about 2006.

Stopped off for the night in Phitsanulok. I remember diesel was 23 - 24 bht a litre at the time.

Didn't go via Ayutthaya though, took the Saraburi road.

Few days later did CM to Kanchanaburi, a similar distance and again a good days drive.

PS. Realise you did not say you were intending doing it in a day.
