I pulled my electric bill out of my mailbox this afternoon to find that they say I owe them 405,517.74 Baht!! :D

Last month, they did not come and read my meter at all but just billed me on "average unit" which annoyed me because my air con hadn't been working for three weeks and I was looking forward to a much reduced bill. Now this month, they have officially taken the cake by billing me in advance for the next 20 years.

I have asked the architect who recently did some work on my house to try and help me and he has said he would sort it out. I hope he can because this is one hel_l of a mistake!

If I didn't :D I would have :o

wow! thats a beauty!

maybe instead of readng the meter he went for a few sangsoms down the corner!

Here they use some kind of meter with printer, 2 months ago they made a mistake and had a high seven figure bill, luckily they had their brains with them and made a correct bill :o

Obviously he has wired the entire West coast of the island up to your meter!

I am going to leave my air-con running 24 hrs from now on and see if we can get it up to a cool 1/2 million next month :D

(No need to thank me :D )

You are too kind!! :o

In my sweet small country, people sometimes (like everywhere else) rent out their house; sometimes to bad people, very bad. :D

They start a WEED-plantation which consumes a h##ll of a lot of electricity and water.....

Not only they ruin your house but leave you also with the bills....

This lady house owner was on TV last week and she had to pay an electricity bill of Euro 32.000,00 :D:D ..some 1 1/2 Million Baht...and she's responsible...

And this case is not just an incident.... :o

yeah I got a gas bill for over $1000 for 1 month when it is usually $30.

I was like <deleted> I was in Thailand for 2 of the weeks also so I was only home for 2 weeks.

They do an electronic meter read from there computer and to my delight they finaly amitted that there meter read thingy was out, this was after 4 weeks worth of Phone calls. But to compensate they write off my next bill to $0.00 which was nice.

Also I seen on TV that a few people have been billed 100K plus for internet connection :o that would take a few years off your life seeing that bill

That is exactly what happened to me. 20.000+ euro down the drain. Electricity was tapped at a location outside my house and brought inside with a cable. As the electricity was used in my appartment i am responsible. That is what you get when you 'legalize' selling soft drugs in coffee shops. They need a source, hence the plantations. I was a 'good' guy. I warned the police when i found out. Next time i keep my mouth shut and remove the cable myself. One of many instances where my countries law is unable to protect its citizen.

On topic. I had one of those strange bills in Thailand too. Just a fluke in their measurement. As it is such a high amount it will be corrected.

Also be aware of houseowners padding the electricity (and water) bills. That happens too often.

Khun Jean, I am the houseowner. Tomorrow is the pay by date but I have been assured that it is being sorted out and the power company has admitted it was a mistake and will be rectifying it. If you don't see my on Thai Visa tomorrow evening, you will know that they have removed my meter!!
