Mystery surrounds coach shooting incident in East Pattaya

shot-9.jpg

PATTAYA: -- On Thursday afternoon Nongprue Police were called to Highway 36 in East Pattaya to investigate reports of a coach which had been shot at as the vehicle travelled along the highway. The coach had no passengers at the time and the driver was shaken but uninjured.

Police arrived at the scene and spoke with the coach driver, Khun Wimon aged 44, who explained how he was on his way to Rayong province where he was due to collect workers from an auto-parts company. He made a U-turn maneuver on Highway 36 so he could join Highway 331 which forced a number of vehicles to slow-down on both sides of the carriageway so the coach could make the maneuver as safely as possible.

Khun Wimon claimed that no vehicles were forced to brake sharply and no aggression from any drivers forced to slow-down and stop while the coach U-turned was seen.

Hands up all those that have ever seen a bus driver do a safe U-Turn?!facepalm.gif

The use of the word force implies that the coach driver just pulled out.

Standard procedure here at U-Turns seems to be wait a short time, then just pull out anyway and to hell with everyone else.

And no I've never seen a coach conduct a safe U-Turn.

If anyone knows the spot it's a ridiculous set up to turn right onto the 331 south bound from the 36 !! DeathTrap !! As for buses doing U turns or for that matter driving anywhere, they simply go by the moto that " Might Is Right" I'm coming through !! He obviosly pissed someone off !! Thank goodness he didn't cause yet another Bus incident ! " Keep ya eyes on the road and ya hands upon the wheel ....... "

There is no inside slow lane smile.png of the four available on a typcal carrageway with central divider, from the left they are-:

1. Overloaded motorcycles converted to food stands, dogs, mopeds going the wrong way and Fortuner drivers that think they are still on a motorbike.

2. Racing 10 wheeled trucks with trailers full of dirt flying off in a perpetual cloud that occasionally swerve into lane 3 to dodge the mopeds going the wrong way in lane one that have come out into lane 2 to avoid the food cart.

3. Silver and white minivans full of tourists doing 250KPH careering past the remaining semi-conscious motorists doing a sensible speed.

4. Silver and white minivans full of tourists doing 250KPH careering past the remaining semi-conscious motorists doing a sensible speed. (except when its blocked by U-Turning coach and everyone dives back to lanes 3,2 or 1 at the last second.)

Sometime's the Police can be seen not helping at all at U-turns, junctions, roundabouts or trafficlights. But only if it isn't raining.

Pomthai - I agree 100% with your analysis

Perhaps you regularly drive on Mittrapharp Highway from Khon Kaen to Korat

He'll think twice the next time he does a u-turn.

Plausible about a U Turn causing some road rage. Basically large busses and trucks go any where they want. Mini vans pretty much do the same.

A high Calibre Road Rage

Pattaya where else ??
