ACM Kongsak insists the drought is not in crisis

Interior Minister Kongsak Wanthana(คงศักดิ์ วันทนา) insists that the drought situation has not put the country in a crisis yet. ACM Kongsak said that the people are not faced with insufficient amount of water for consumption yet.

Air Chief Marshall Kongsak has made visits to Boraphed(บอระเพ็ด) Lake, Nakhon Sawan(นครสวรรค์) province. The area has been recently struck by drought.

He said although the level of water has dropped to as far as 1 million cubic meters per day, slightly lower than what the Irrigation Department had expected, ACM Kongsak said that there are ways to relive the problem and that people should not get too worried about the situation.

He said water from canal is being pumped into Boraphed Lake and thus could alleviate the troubles of local residents.

Interior Minister affirmed that people will not be faced with insufficient water as the country has been constantly experiencing scattered thundershowers.

Now this is a very real problem that is going to be affecting people for some time. A few thunder showers will not make up for the years of deforestation, or the years of allowing unbridled industrial development without any water management planning. And lets not get into those golf courses.
