Does anyone have any more info on the new CarreFour being planned for the Jomtien area?

1) Does anyone know exactly where it will be built?

2) Does anyone know when it will open?

After two years with no replies, the answer must be that Carrefour doesn't have any plans to extend in Jomtien.

Where: slightly across from Lotus...or not far from there....they want to take advantage of the pedestrians bridge

When: soon...they said...like 1-2 years

That's interesting BKK. Tesco Lotus on the Sukhumvit Road really needs a good shake up. Empty shelves, limited open check-outs (but with upwards of 15 staff manning the electrical/electronic departments), past sell-by-date products and unpriced products. Where did you hear the news about Carrefour?

From the realtors in the area....just to take advantage of residents in all those new developments up the hill. It will be right around the entrance of Soi Paradise Villa or the next one. There are probably at least a dozen new village/subdivision up there.

I don't konw....They could be wrong

As far as i know, they will built one on the corner of Soi Khaotalo/Sukhumvit.

Last month they demolished the Big-T Furniture shop. Its a huge plot of land, all the way up to the first soi.

Peter

Thanks for the info J. It will be closer to my BangSare home.

That's also the same info one of the reators told me a few weeks ago. It's good then...finally I don't have to drive all the way inside Pattaya- what a hassel! :o

The rumour about Carrefour coming to Jomtien has been around for ages. One of my colleagues spoke to their management about it around 6 months ago. At that time, they said they had no plans whatsoever to open in Jomtien. Of course, that could change at any time and it may have changed in the last 6 months. I very much hope so, as it would be much more convenient than the one in Pattaya Klang, and a much better option than either the Tesco Lotus or the Big C. However, it does prove that the initial rumour was false and it is therefore possible that the current one is too. Of course, some real estate agents will tell people that a new supermarket is coming to an area in order to make it more attractive to them.

I did hear that Tesco have brought land in Ban Chang just opposite the easern star plaza, dose anyone know if this is true?

It would be a real boost for the area if its true and cut down on my fuel billas its a bit of a hike to Pattaya or Rayong to do the weekly shop.

It would be very unlikely they have bought it as they invariably obtain land on long leases

Don't know about Ban Chang, but Tesco has apparently purchased the Jumbo Store in Sattahip and currently carrying out complete renovation/extension.

I have it on impeccable authority, it’s going to be built next to the Casino in Jomtien.

:o

That's good..right between the Casino and the new horse racing course.

Thats it opposite ViewTaly 49.

It hard keeping up with the stories in Pattaya.

Have a nice day

:D

Is that near the proposed Thai school for advance driving skills?

The land at the junction of the Sukhumvit Road and Soi Kao Talo has been earmarked for the site of a new Imax Major Theatre Complex with restaurants (MK, Daedomon, Chesters etc.) A while ago, the Krung Thai IMAX Theatre Co. said that they intended to expand their theatre business in Thailand and US$7 million was allocated for this expansion.....more theatres in Bangkok, Chiang Mai and Pattaya.

Go tell that to these "impeccable authorities" and "reliable real estate agents" ( :o ); they are wrong. The original question remains unanswered!!! We still don't know when, where or if a second Carrefour will open in Pattaya........nor a casino, nor a horse racing track, nor the Thai school for advanced drivers nor even View Talay 49......and thank God for the last one.
