Education Visa questions (please help!) very detailed

Featured Replies

So i will be leaving Thailand in November with a 1 year overstay. I plan to pay the fine when I leave the airport and have already paid for, applied for, and registered for a Thai Language class to get an Education Visa (yes the school is licensed but just very recently, in fact, I teach English here, and due to popular demand, my boss has opened a Thai class for foreigners to help with visa issues.)

From my understanding, there are two different times I need to send in paperwork, this is where I need some verification

Once I return to America, I will send the following to the Thai Consulate in New York:

1. Copy of Application to the Thai Language School

2. Letter of Acceptance to the Thai Language School

3. Copy of Passport (will have paid fines by then)

4. 6 Passport photos

5. Application form for Non Immigrant O visa

6. Application for Education Visa

My questions are:

a. Do I need to submit 2 visa forms? (one for non im-o and one for Ed. Visa? or just the Ed visa form?)

b. Is there a specific form for the Education Visa? If so, where can I get it?

c. How long will it take for them to send me the Education Visa?

d. is there a way to speed up receiving the Ed. Visa (expedited service?)

Once I receive my Ed. Visa (3 months, bu my class is a 1 year class), I plan to fly back to Thailand and submit the following to the local Immigration Office:

1. Copy of passport and current visa

2. Letter of Registration from Thai Language School

3. Receipt from Thai Language School (Tuition)

4. Some sort of form for Ed. Visa extension

My questions are:

1. Are these the correct documents to bring with me?

2. How long can I extend the visa (1 year?)

3> Can I renew the visa after the extension (next year?)

Thanks so much!

Also, my SO thinks it would be better to take a lawyer with me to the airport when I leave and pay me overstay fine (about 1 year = 20,000 baht) Does anyone know of a place in Bangkok that does this? (can accompany me to the airport to deal with immigration officals?) If so what is the number or email address?

Thanks!

Alysha

overstay - working illegally - no visa - wow you really have dome it all.......

Hope you dont get caught before your airport viist as your topic will be the least of your worries

'in fact, I teach English here,'

Then why is your employer not providing you with a work permit ? Then you could pay the overstay at immigration and become legal.

You only apply for a non-ed visa not a non-o. You can get your visa from the embassy or one of the consulates listed here. http://www.thaiembassy.org/main/ You should choose the one you want to apply to and check their website for what the requirements are and the amount of time to get your visa.

Im not really interested in peoples opinions of my overstay and illegal work. I have my own personal reasons as to why it happened like that and I am trying to fix it to the best of my ability now. Im not sure why my Language School can't get me a work permit, but they can't,

For some reason the last two lines of my reply are missing.

The school should know what is needed for the visa and extension. Both visa and extension will require schools registration documents from the Ministry of education.

You don't need a lawyer. Just go to airport and pay the 20K bhat on departure. Allow some extra time to pay the fine.

Jesus, I would add possible taxation issues as I wonder about how this person was paid. I am thinking a qualified lawyer or at the very least pay, get out of the country then start over again.

Unhelpful food fight posts removed.

Ed visa processing is not that long..i process that in my country only for 3days..and the school provide all the documents.
