bangkokpoppys
I'm looking for a recommendation for someone to copy a wooden kids single bed and side cupboard for our number 2. Rang one place from the ANZWG Bangkok Guide and was quoted 30,000 THB, can't write my response here. I think it is fairly straighforward to copy - it is painted white and has mdf panels with vertical v-grooves at bedhead and foot. If anyone has any experiences with furniture makers would like to hear your views on whether it is possible - cheers in advance.
Simhne
This is slightly convoluted but if you are on Facebook look up Sayai-Bay Penthouse (open profile) and in their photo album is info on a reclaimed teak workshop near Don Meuang. I can testify to the quality of the workmanship.

Simhne
My partners family had some beds made a couple of years ago but I'm sorry I can't remember how much it cost. I do remember it was cheap and although it took a few weeks the guys from the workshop were very honest and clearly hard working.
cattoc
If you are slightly adventurous and really want a bargain... try the railway carpenter workshops along the line in Klong Toey. Bring a range of photos showing the key construction point and dimensions of your current bed / cupboard and take them to any of the workshops along the street front. These guys use reclaimed shipping wood - but the finished products are excellent.. .. I have had a lot of very cheap but reasonable quality furniture made here. These places look rough - but the workers are really quite skilled.and work often on the railway tracks .when the trains come regularly and the workers pack up just before the train passes through /// go and see just for this! Exactly what I was going to suggest ! Haven't bought any furniture from there yet but some guys did some picket fencing for me and did a good job.
