From Phra Nakorn to Phyathai 3

Featured Replies

Next month, I've got to travel from Phra Nakorn (easiest landmark is Santichaiprakarn on Thanon Phra Arthit & Thanon Pra Sumen) to Phyathai 3 Hospital on Thanon Phetkasem in Thonburi.

I can Google directions for driving, but I'm not, so public transport is best.

I can take a boat down and across the river. I can catch a bus from just about anywhere, if I know which bus and from where to take it.

Even catching a boat across the river and then if necessary a taxi is feasible, although I'd prefer buses.

Anyone have a good idea of direction for me?

Good thing you have a month to figure this out. Maybe some members can give you advice on how to wipe your bum also.

No problem - I just use cgphuket instead of paper

Phetkasem is not in Thonburi proper, unless you think the whole west of river is named such. it is not-it is just 1 of many khet=districts.

AC bus 509 and 157, on along Ratchdamnern/south side to go west, and also AC-bus 91, along Sanam Luang, go over the Pinklao bridge, pass either PATA or the royal hospital, join again on that road where they now build yet another skytrain till the Ta pra crossing, then turn left onto Phetkasem (thus missing a short part of that road-starts WWYai) and follow it till at least Bang Khae-509 ends garage just beyond MALL/crossing western ring rd and 91 runs further along that road-then turns right into the Settakhit KeHa. I have no map here at hand and forgot where that hospital (there are quite a few along that very long road) is-find out nearest sidesoi yourself--maybe it even has more as 1 saakhaa, so you can do own homework.

AC bus-pay by distance, so be ready to tell conductor to where-or have namecard-and she will point where to get off.

Note that THAT part of PK is very, very congested now, due to building the metro extension-overground, so former 3 lanes are now 2-effective 1, as 1 is parked/stopping.

From dec. 5 the BTS should be extended yet another 2 stops to end right along PKasem/Bang Fa, but from that part of town it is no help.

Forget boat-just very clumsy and ineffective changes make it not worth any gain.

Many thanks, Asanee. I can use your information to develop a plan.

I definitely have my destination printed in both English and Thai, so as long as I'm on one of the correct buses, I can hope the conductor will point out any changes needed.

It is quite a distance, and I rarely venture to that side of the rive, so admit that I call it all "Thonburi" although I do recognize that it's not.

As it seems to be very congested, and probably to become more so, taxi is not a great option, as I've got the time to sit on a bus.

Thanks for your help.
