I have an Extension of Stay until Dec 31, 2013. It became invalidated in September 2012 when I resigned, but I have not yet cancelled it so I am an overstay.

My questions is can I go straight to the airport with ticket out of country, tell immigration I want cancel the Extension and pay the fine on the spot, or do I really have to go down to the One Stop Service where may EOS was issued to cancel it first.

I got confused and booked the ticket out of country for tomorrow morning already without having cancelled the EOS. Am I going to have a problem at airport?

Thanks a lot.

Just leaving and returning without using the re-entry permit will cancel your extension.

Have the 20,000 baht ready and just go through immigration if your extension has already been canceled in the computer system you will pay the overstay if not you might get by without paying the fine.

If you tried this at a border crossing you might get turned away but at airport it is not likely at all.

Thanks UJ. The thing is I've been traveling in and out of the country for the past year on this Extension, as recently as a month ago, so it seems that it is not cancelled in their system or I would have been refused exit/entry, right? If that's the case, is there anyway to "cancel" it or invalidate either at the airport or if I get out of country is there a process I can go through in say Vientiane ?

Cheers

Don't use your re-entry permit. when you enter. If you get a tourist visa enter the visa number on entry card if no visa leave it blank.
