Start of Skytrain

Featured Replies

Hi, I am after a bit of directional advice. I have to admit my sense of direction is not great, so really need to be able to find where to go via Google maps. OK, I live in Pattaya and I want to find a Tesco Lotus on the outskirts of Bangkok that is the starting point for the Skytrain. I have been told you can park at this Tesco's, and walk upstairs to get on the Skytrain. I need to visit a few places, not all on the same day. I need to go to the British Embassy, so any member know which station I need to get to? Also the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The other places i am going to I have found which stations I need.

Well, OnNut on the Sukhumvit line almost fits your description, but it's no longer the 'end of the line' as that line now extends to Bearing. But it has a TESCO shopping centre there.

An alternative, you could drive to the Airport (Swampy) and take the train in from there?

Hi David, thanks for the quick reply. You may well be right about this Tesco's not being the start station for the Skytrain. What I'm after is driving directions from Pattaya to the said Tesco's, and maybe some sort of reference so I can see the route on Google maps.

By far the easiest place to get on the train is the airport, much bigger and easier to find than any Tesco's. I do use the Tesco's at Ratchadapisek myself (then the MRT below), but getting the right off-ramp from the highway took me a few attempts at first.

Have a great day

This is the schematic map of the metro network, http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/02-route-current.aspx

British Emb is BTS Ploenchit station (E2), use exit 5 then go thru Wave Place arcade down to street level and then Embassy entrance is diagonally opp on Wireless rd http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/images/area-map/E2_update.gif

The main MOFA building is on Sri Ayutthaya just west of Phaya Thai rd which is BTS Phaya Thai station (N2) take exit 3, http://www.bts.co.th/customer/en/images/area-map/N2_update.gif. However, I suspect that is not the MOFA dept that you need so it depends on which dept within MOFA you are visiting.

Thanks for the replies. The MOFA is to get a freedom to marry rubber stamped.

Ask in the visas forum, but I think you need the one at Chaeng Watthana.

Many of the translation shops near the embassy offer a translation and MFA stamping service (and will post the resulting documents).
