October 18, 201312 yr Has anybody encountered the Equatorial Spitting cobra as far north as Udon Thani ? It is only supposed to inhabit Southern Thailand but yesterday I killed a cobra in our poultry shed at Sawang Daen Din and its description matches the ESC in my book . It was almost olive green ,about 1.2 met long but had no neck markings at all,I had a good look at it when it reared up and splayed its neck, it did not have a chance to spit as it had a 2 day old chicken halfway down its gullet. It tried to regurgitate the chicken as it struck its aggressive pose but my garden spade sent him to snake heaven in the act. The buggar had eaten a couple of fertile chicken eggs before the chicken.
October 20, 201312 yr Author Wheres the pics Broken back = dispatched snake so I usually only give them one whack, but T/W reckons that if they still wiggle they are dangerous so she turned it into unrecognisable pulp with a hoe.
October 20, 201312 yr It will be more likely be an Indo Chinese Spitter, not an equatorial spitter. Still, not a snake you need near your abode. Remove food sources etc....
