April 29, 200620 yr My boyfriend (Thai) and myself will be going to Canada in July for a visit, he was granted a TV. I was just wondering if anyone knew what would happen when we get there? Do they just need his visa or should we bring other documnets with us as well. Will we be seperated, because I am assuming he will have to be in one line for foreigners and I will be in the Canadian line. Can I go with him when he has to talk to the immigration officer? Will this be a huge process?? I just picture them emptying all of our bags and hours spent there. One of my friends ( a young blonde girl) who is Canadian recently returned home from Canada and they stripped searched her! Anyway any info would be great.
April 29, 200620 yr You can always join the same queue as your boyfriend's since you are traveling together. See also Information for visitors to Canada and Canadian Border Security and Canada Customs.
May 18, 200620 yr I went to Canada last year (July), landed at Toronto, with a tourist visa. The immigration officer checked my visa and asked me if I had some food with me. He also asked how long I was going to stay as my visitor's visa allowed me to stay for 6 months. I was only there for 3 weeks and I had to show him my return ticket as well. It took me only less than 5 minutes. Have a nice trip. I enjoyed my visit to Canada last year and hope to go back again sometime in the future.
