Tonga royals in Chiang Mai

CHIANG MAI: -- Their Majesties King George Tupou VI and Queen Nanasipau'u Tuku'aho of the Kingdom of Tonga on Sunday arrived in Chiang Mai Sunday for their personal visit.

Disembarking from Fight TG104, they were welcomed by the province’s high-ranking officials. In the evening, they will observe the walking street in the city area and enjoy a cultural show. In the itinerary, they will observe a terra cotta factory in Sankamphaeng.

Phongthep sees progress on reform

BANGKOK: -- Deputy Prime Minister Phongthep Thepkanjana expected fast progress in the political reform initiative, expecting the three sub-committees to complete their assessment within this year.

The sub-committees are accumulating reform proposals on the political, economic, and social areas.

Speaking on a radio programme on FM92.5 MHz, Phongthep insisted that Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra was sincere about reforming. The political reform committee's meeting, chaired by former prime minister and Chart Thai Pattana Party chief adviser Banharn Silapa-archa, will consider all suggestions to ensure a successful reform, he said.

Bodies of six more Laos air crash victims retrieved from river

BANGKOK, October 20, 2013 (AFP) - Search teams have pulled six more bodies of air crash victims from the Mekong River in Laos, the national carrier said Sunday, taking the number of corpses recovered to 38.
