October 21, 201312 yr Hello, I'm slightly confused as the international school I am being an intern at next year informed me I should get a non-immigrant B visa before leaving my country. However the Thai embassy in NZ gave me a form which only says non-immigrant visa along with tourist visa etc on it. When I asked why it didn't say "B" they said the form was for all visa's. So I will apply for the non-immigrant as it says on the form. Tick that box on the form. Am I missing something here? Does this mean I get my non-immigrant visa and once I get to Thailand and get my work permit do they then change it to a non-immigrant B visa?? and it then gets extended for the duration of my time working?? I tried asking the school but there's a slight communication problem I think, the HR department are Thai's and might not understand exactly what I mean. That's why I turn to this forum Much appreciated!!!!!
October 21, 201312 yr You will need more than the application form to get the visa. Your additional paperwork will let them know what type visa to issue which in your case will be a B visa. See this page on embassy website: http://www.thaiembassy.org/wellington/th/services/779/17699-Business-Visa-(Non-Immigrant-Category-.html
October 21, 201312 yr Author @ ubonjoe Thanks for the reply. Yea I know that I have to give them other documents. copy of passport, education, photos, birth certificate etc..... I don't think you answered my question though. All I want to know is do I just get the non-immigrant visa here in NZ which lasts 90 days and then it gets changed to a non-immigrant B visa in Thailand once I receive my work permit.and apply for the non-immigrant "B" Visa. Or am I meant to get the non immigrant "B" Visa in my hand before I leave NZ? So simply put do I get just the non-immigrant visa in NZ and apply for it to be Change to A non immigrant "B" Or am I meant to obtain the Non immigrant "B" visa before I leave NZ? Thanks
October 21, 201312 yr You should get a single entry B visa before you leave. Then get the work permit and then you would get an extension of stay based upon teaching here. If you don't get the B visa before you leave you would need to get a single entry tourist visa and then after getting paper work go out to a nearby embassy or consulate for the B visa. Thanks Did you note this requirement ? Letter from the applicant’s company stating the objective of the visit to Thailand, applicant’s salary, etc. Copy of correspondence with trading partners in Thailand, or letter of invitation from company in Thailand together with copy of company registration Evidence of adequate funds If your not able to supply the required documentation you may not be issued with anything other tan a tourist visa.
October 21, 201312 yr Author Thanks ubonjoe That's very helpful I just wanted to make sure I was getting a non immigrant B visa and not just a non-immigrant visa. The deceiving form just doesn't have the option of a non-immigrant B visa on it. Just says...... non-immigrant. However the consult I am dealing with knows I need a B visa so I'm sure all is fine I will go ahead and tick the non-immigrant box. Thanks for your help
October 21, 201312 yr Author thanks thaiexpat21 Yes the school is going to send documents through to the embassy. I presume those documents are the ones you mentioned.
October 21, 201312 yr They should be the same ones for teaching listed on the embassy webpage that I posted a link to
