Medical insurance for foreigners in Thailand ?

Featured Replies

I wonder if it'd possible to get myself insured. Each time I when I visit Bangkok Bank, the staff would pester me to purchase their insurance package.

However, I'm not looking for insurance for personal accident etc. I'm more interested in what's equivalent to Thais' "prakan somekong", i.e. social insurance. I would to be able to pay a bit less when I go to outpatient clinics in hospital for common illnesses.

Is there such a thing in Thailand for foreigners ?

There is a new mechanism going into place but it is not 100% clear as to the direction it will go. The main topic below and some more topics in local community forums such as Chiang Mai.
