October 24, 201312 yr I have heard that the exchange rates at Suvarnabhumi airport are much higher as compared with the local bank (kasikorn) in your residence. Is this true? Can somebody tell how many % difference are there between both of these. Thanks,
November 4, 201312 yr The difference between the best and worst rates in Thailand is very small (except for big hotels which give lousy rates). The best rates are at independent licenced exchange offices like Valuas (sp?) on Sukhumvit. The airport rate is approximately 20 or 30 Satangs worse to the pound/dollar than your local Kasikorn.
May 20, 201412 yr All you do is call up the KBank ForEx page on your smartphone at the airport. Compare and decide. If you're just changing a small amount, then a few satangs hardly make a dent.
May 20, 201412 yr A few weeks ago I spent a couple of days traveling between swampy and Siam. I made a point of checking the exchange rates at the start and finish of each airport link ride. Based on AUD - THB exchange rates I found the airport banks were offering between 1 to 2 baht less per AUD than the same banks in town.
May 20, 201412 yr ??? what you mean with "higher"? The rates at the airport to change foreign currency to Thai Baht are about the worst in the country. Approximately 4% worse than at every normal branch outside the airport. DO NOT change money at the airport booths, identical bad rate at every booth, a bad ripoff. Just change the very basic amount to get into town. But there is one booth of Kasikorn at the Railway Link level (bottom of the airport building). This area is under control of the state railway, legally outside the airport premises. There you get fair rates, comparable to the rest of the country. Edited May 20, 201412 yr by KhunBENQ
May 21, 201412 yr For cash euro's you get 1 baht less at the airport. Also they try to cheat you with the amount of money so be aware. Better change in the big malls around Siam.
