'ease of doing business there'

bwahahahahahahahaha

sorry i couldn't help myself

A bit of a "fluff" interview. If you keep listening to that guy, I think he says it's easy to do business here because of the lack of enforcement of laws. He calls Bangkok "lawless". Which makes sense from his point of view as he owns several bars. I'm sure it'd be interesting to hear some of his stories (off camera of course!).

Funny when he said Bangkok is behind many other big cities here in Asia. The 2 Thai gals really went after him. 5555

Another interesting comment was about Thai's always smiling. They all said just because they are smiling doesn't mean they are happy. Interesting...

Nice video. Thanks for sharing!

Yeah well, I noticed that from my first week here - made me very much doubt the whole LOS myth....

David, Thank you for the tip on better video viewing!

IT was good to hear from a expat business person that business could be run here with relative ease, not all the barriers to foreign business i heard expressed in the past.

The ladies were all very pleasant looking and despite some of the male's comments their body language indicated the perception of what he said, but they kept their response cordial and with a smile stated "you are a brave man".

Interesting!

I'm very interested in how Ashley Sutton managed to get into the F&B business here.

From what I've been able to find out he is just the ideas guy and the money comes from investors.

His bars are very nice and I'd like to do something along the same lines.

She said she went to school in the UK. Expensive Public school (in the UK private schools are called public and public schools are not smile.png )

I know a few ladies who went to expensive UK public schools and the one thing they most have in common.............................. you guessed! They all punctuate every sentence and phrase with copious amounts of the word "like". Another often common trait is working for daddy's company or in the arts, sponsored by daddy.

Yes there are lots of rules on Health & Safety, non discrimination, accounting practice etc etc in EU. But a Thai can go there and open a restaurant and providing the rules are complied with, will not have any problems. My wife acted as translator for a provider of Food Hygiene certificated courses and exams which many Thai restaurants put their staff through.

Do you think a European can come here and open a restaurant so easily. Must have Thai partners, must employ 4 Thai (2 if married to Thai), must comply with rules around reserved occupations, can only own 49% of company etc etc etc etc etc. Then we have the ongoing "contributions and donations" - part of the traditional culture as our Labour Minister reminds us.

Opening and running a business in Europe, or even Malaysia, is a piece of piss compared to Thailand. The only way to succeed here is to have the right people backing you, which Aussie Ashley seems to have, at the moment. But to say it's easy and "lawless" is <deleted>, and creates the completely wrong impression.

Wonder how much he paid the BiB to close the street when his anchor was delivered - he didn't mention that part.

She may have gone to public school in the UK, but that wasn't where she picked up the habit of saying 'Like'.

That type of speech is typical of valley girls in Los Angeles, not public school kids from top notch UK institutions.

She probably picked it up from watching movies and having friends who went to school in the States.

If she did go to public school in the UK it can't have been a very good one or she wasn't there long before she moved to LA.

I certainly never heard anyone at my school speaking like that, in fact if anyone at the school I went to had spoken like that we'd have been disciplined; nor have I heard anyone that went to a good public school in the UK speak like that.

I have heard lots of people who spent time in LA that speak like that though.

I didn't think of a restaurant or making courses. There you might be right. But try to open a workshop in say Austria or Germany or France or Italy (Italy is funny, you can't fire staff).

IF you are out of luck every month another government guy comes and complain about some safety or Environment thing, and often enough they have no clue at all. They usual way is also to fix things with "donations".

Alone what the external accounting costs are crazy because the rules are so difficult.
