car insurance renewal

Featured Replies

I've just managed to reverse my 6 month old Ford Fiesta into a low wall...parking sensors are not idiot proof it seems facepalm.gif (although I had 20+ years driving in UK without a scratch)

The estimate for repair is 6,400bht (which I think is amazingly cheap) and I'm debating paying myself and not claiming on 1st Class insurance that was included in the purchase price so as to avoid having the renewal premium 'loaded' following a claim...

The initial premium for 1st Class insurance was just over 20,000bht.

Does anyone have experience of how much the insurance companies might 'load' the renewal if I make a claim??

Thx in advance

Thai religiously claim for almost anything and everything, almost looking for work that needs to be done before renewing a policy.

However I found that having no claims only decreased my policy by about 2000 baht on the following year.

claim we did first year for about the same amount. Just renewed and it was still only 16k for ist class, dealer garage no named driver etc. Did not seem to make that much difference.

Let the insurance pay,the renewal will not differ much.

This is interesting, back in the UK claiming for something small will register an accident against you and you really don't want that as you're then in a higher risk group for years, especially if you change your insurance company.

Personally I wouldn't bother to claim for this even if it doesn't affect the policy at the moment because the claim will be registered against you and you never know when the insurance industry decides to get greedy or how it might affect you in the future if you choose to change insurance company.

Is there an excess fee on your policy ?
