Easy out for the cop. The police will negotiate a large cut of the 400k and get the French guy to drop the charge for the police to turn the eye away on the drug involvement. They will scare the frenchy and say they will charge him re the drug involvement. You agree Guys

Yes, but are they in jail? Arrested does not mean anything in Thailand!

Nor does it mean convicted....! And I'll bet half the money has already gone...!

I bet all the money is gone already (down in the pocket to the "investigating" officer)

I'm really surprised this guy got pinched, and I'm even more surprised this made the media. I wonder if the higher ups weren't in for a cut so they pinched him to teach others a lesson, and that is to always provide upstream on all illicit activities.

How does a Thai cop get nicked for crimes against farangs in Thailand, even murder? They don't so something stinks here

The sentiment expressed in your ignorant post is not only wrong but it stinks. Thai police have been convicted of crimes against foreigners but unfortunately people like you choose to spread unsubstantiated fallacies.

Rather remarkable that a corrupt Thai cop was arrested. Would be even more remarkable if the impotent Thai judicial system was able to sentence the worm to jail time. It would certainly send a message. Is the Thai govt. ready to send a message to law enforcement that a higher standard is expected of them? Probably not. It would signal that they have earmarked hundreds of billions baht to improve the entire system. Better forensic equipment, better labs, highly qualified detectives, better pay for cops, overseas training, etc, etc. That would require a mature, wise, visionary, and competent government. Does Thailand have one like that? So, what will we see? The same thing we see for nearly every crime committed in Thailand. A suspended sentence. That is essentially what Thai judges do. Hand out suspended sentences.

Can you imagine? Handcuffed, kidnapped, threatened and forced to handover $15k. Will be surprised if they see more than a few weeks in jail. Nevermind na. Go to the temple and be sorry and everything will be forgotten.

The higher the rank the more they extort.

Low level traffic cop 400-1000 each farang

Sen Sgt 300000 to 490000 like this case.

Colonel a new car...house...boat...cash every month

Thousands of Generals...the possibilities are enoumous

Why not check on the French ? How can he own and sell land ? Paying 2.000 THB to a person who helped to sell 2 mio. worth land is really miserly, really cheap. He might be sorry already to have involved the police. Not much sympathy for him. Wouldn't be surprised if he is in the drug business as well.

Is this the sort of unsubstantiated fallacy you are referring to? http://www.andrew-drummond.com/2013/01/killer-cop-gets-remission-for-river.html

How is that unsubstantiated? You may not agree with the reduction in his sentence, but he has been convicted and is doing time for his crimes.

So your link only proves the point MMarlow is making.

So the sreenplay is:

- crime

- arresting + press conference (big show business)

- everyone go home by bail

- court case + sentence : 10 000 B penalty.

for the French guy: next time give them normal share but better if you go home and never come back. They will strike back thai is pretty sure. wai2.gif

Biased logic, because MMarlow did in fact never provide any link, data, study to support his assessment....

The French guy, probably an illegal land and property speculator and into drugs.

This crowd all deserve each other, definitely the very bottom of the gene pool.

I would like to know, why the Frenchman, formerly Mr Richer, who is now known as Mr Poorer, is also not facing charges for his illegal activities in Thailand?

It amazes me the sort of low life trash that is entering this country.
