Mooner
On the borders? Why not in Bkk, Chiang Mai, Phuket, etc. Border town casinos sound like trouble to me especially with the lack of policing that would probably be in force.
bangon04
Excuse me..... but Thai officials are holding a meeting about establishing casinos when all good Buddhists are supposed to mourning the death of the Supreme Patriarch? Lucky the Lord Buddha never set foot in Siam. you can't be sure - maybe on of the relics in a temple somewhere was a foot..
doremifasol
There is nothing to discuss at the meeting, they've got their orders already. Casinos will be opened
tingtongteesood
I believe this is another ploy for the so called 'government' to make money for themselves.....
centrala
Thaksin took a couple of shots at this: Thaksin Revives Gamble On Casinos http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/44390-thaksin-revives-gamble-on-casinos/ His first proxy took a crack at it, too: Samak Proposes Casino Near Suvarnabhumi http://www.thaivisa.com/forum/topic/195122-samak-proposes-casino-near-suvarnabhumi/ So it seems only fitting that now, it's his clone's turn to take a stab at it. FarangTalk
My gf used to work at one of the casinos at the border. You would not believe some of the stories about how dangerous it can be. Thailand is rapidly becoming a lawless, dangerous and inhospitable place opening more of these casinos would ensure another step in this direction.
