Tourist Visa Australia Problem

Hi,

My girlfriend and I are trying to make a tourist visa for her to visit me in Australia.

We have run into a few problems and I am not sure if I am being lied to and what would be the best course of action from here.

My girlfriend and her friend where applying for a visa by them selfs but apparently unknown to me they where using an agent to help make the visa. The agent can now not be contacted and we have been told that she has been arrested for corruption.

From what I have been told my girlfriend Visa and some of the papers from her friend have been taken by the police and they are holding them until they can be verified and checked.

I know that we are probably screwed about the visa because I have called the Australian embassy and they have no record about the visa application ever being lodged.

Does anyone know how I could proceed from here?

Would it be best for my girlfriend to go and report her Visa as stolen and arrange a replacement and then we can lodge the Visa application again?

I do not know how I can verify if the passports are really with the police I have been told I have to wait until at least the 20th of November

And let this be a lesson on how not to go about making a visa and trusting the wrong people in Thailand.

Edit, sorry for sounding harsh mate. It just sounds like a web of lies. Is she locked up? Is bail money involved? Are you the sponsor? Which cop shop? How much money did you pay for all this? Her visa can't be stolen. Her passport can. It's not corruption she would be locked up for.

Someone else will be along shortly to ask the other 50 questions I missed.

Mate, it sounds highly suspicious to me.

Presuming that the Visa Agent requested a Fee for the service ...

Just start again...Do the paperwork yourself in conjunction with your girlfriend

If the so called agent never put through any visa paperwork then no visa was officially applied for. Ergo, there is no visa.

The agent's disappearance or arrest over corruption becomes irrelevant to the situation.

If there is a matter of yourself having forked over monies for applications, well, I'd be looking at the story a lot more closely

I got the feeling it was the agent who was locked up KrisB.

The opening post is a little confusing.

Does your girlfriend still have her passport or did they take this with the paperwork????

There is no reason why a visa agent will have to keep her passport unless she was taking this to the VFS FOR TO MAKE CERTIFIED COPY they only need a certified copy for the application.

it looks as if they were ripped off and you will have count your losses and start the process again, she will need a passport to do this though.

There is no need for an agent. Tell the gf to apply directly through VFS.

Hopefully she did not hand over original documents.

All sounds a bit suspicious though.
