PHUKET: -- A passerby in Phuket Town helped an off-duty police officer chase down a man who allegedly stole a bag of instant coffee from a 7-Eleven convenience store early yesterday morning.

Govt warns of tough action if protests escalate irrationally

Alleged gunman in former Olympic shooter's killing arrested

BANGKOK: -- Police have arrested a man who allegedly shot dead former Olympic shooter Jakkrit Panichpatikum. Police will hold a press conference to announce the arrest Saturday afternoon.

Police source said the man has implicated close relatives of Jakkrit's wife.

The source said police are looking for two military officers and two civilians who allegedly collaborated in the murder.

PHUKET: -- Local van drivers who shuttle tourists at hotels and resorts to and from the various piers around Phuket have won a reprieve from arrests during the ongoing crackdown on illegal drivers.

PHUKET: -- The new commander of the Tourist Police, Maj Gen Apichai Theamart, yesterday led a team of officers on a safety inspection of boats operating at Rassada Pier, on the east side of Phuket Town.

HRH Princess Sirindhorn admitted to Chulalongkorn Hospital

BANGKOK: -- HRH Princess Maha Chakri Sirindhorn has been receiving treatment at the Chulalongkorn Hospital since November 8, according to the Royal Household Bureau.

In a statement released Saturday, the Princess was admitted with stomach-ache and fever. A diagnosis showed she had uteric stone.

The medical team who is treating the Princess has advised that she stay in the hospital and temporarily refrain from working.

The Princess is now being given antibiotics and analgesic.

PHUKET: A tour bus carrying students on holiday from Bangkok plunged off Patong Hill this afternoon after failing to make it up the steep incline.
