Extending 6 month triple entry visa for the extra 15 - 30 days

Featured Replies

Hello Everyone.
My name is Elwood and i have some important questions that I desperately need answering, thank you.

I am currenly living in Maesai Thailand. This town is the border town to Burma so should I need to cross the border for my visa it's very easy for me to do so.
I mention this incase it is benefitial to me when my post is replied to.

Questions:

I currently hold a Triple Entry Thai Visa, supplied in the UK. Date of issue 3rd October 2013, I entered Thiland on the 16th of October 2013. My Visa states that I must enter before 2nd of April 2014. I assume this to me that's when my Visa expires, Please Do correct me if im wrong.

There are several things I don't understand about my Visa.
By Triple Entry does it mean that I have to leave thailand (Cross the border) and come back 3 times before my visa exspires? So in this case every 2months as of the 3rd of october (or 16th, this im not sure about, please tell me?)
Or does it simply mean that I have theoretically combined 3 Single entry Visas making one Visa that lasts 6 months without havng to cross any borders. The Visa just being called Triple Entry because it has the validaty of 3 single entrys, and that you have the ability to leave the country and come back 3 times within the 6 months should you wish to do so? This is something I am really confused about because both these visa examples seem plausable to me and im just not sure which one it is.

My other question and perhaps the most importand is as follows:

It is my understanding that a single entry Visa lasts for 60 days (2months) and that just before the visa expires one can have that visa extended for a further 15 - 30 days. Essentially gaining another month in thailand should you get the whole 30 days.
As i have a Triple entry Visa that lasts 6 months does this mean that I could potentially get 3 extra months added to my Visa. If so, how would I do this?
Would I need to cross the border every 2 months and when doing so get my Visa extended? im really struggling to understand how this works, because if I cross the border and ask for the 30 day extention, wont they just say I already have so many months left on my current Visa, so no I cant have the extention. or would they give me a new Visa essentially exspiring my triple entry Visa and turning it in to a single entry, ruining everything.

Im totally confused about it all and most likely way way over thinking it.
If I can get my 6 month visa extended every 2 months for 30days it would be amazing because I live here with my Girlfriend and want to be here for as long as possable.

I know that this post is quite a handfull but I would Really Really appreciate if someone could explain all this for me.

Thank you So very much for your time.

-Elwood.

The visa lasts the six months indicated. You are allowed 3 entries of up to 60 day stay and each stay can be extended up to 30 days. You can not use for entry after 2 April - so all entries must have been made by that date or they are lost.

You can go to immigration and extend any of the 60 day entries for 1,900 baht using TM.7 form for almost a 9 month stay or you can just exit and return for new 60 day entries for a six month stay or any combination you wish. You are limited to 3 entries of 60 days and the six month for entry usage of the visa itself.

The visa enter before date means just that. You must use the 3rd entry by that date. You can get a total of about 257 days because your visa was issued 13 days before you entered.

You will a 30 day extension every time you can do them 2 weeks early and loose no days.

Look in your passport. There will be an immigration stamp which gives a "permission to stay date" . Before this date is reached an "extension of stay" can be obtained from an immigration office as detailed above. At the end of the "extension" you must leave Thailand and return to activate the second 60 day entry. This again can be extended before leaving to activate the third and final entry.

You must ensure all entries are used prior to the visas use by date.

Thank You All for replying and so promptly may I add. :)

Please correct me in anyway if I am wrong, but from what you have told me the following is what I now understand. Also I’m not very good at maths, so if I have made a calculation error please point it out, Thank You.

First Entry:
From the day I entered Thailand the 16th of October to the 14th of December I will have been In Thailand for 60 Days.
Should I wish to get the 30 day extension for my first entry, my Two week window to do so would be between the 30th of November and the 14th of December? Having done this I would the need to cross the border by the 12th of January 2014 to begin my second entry.

Second Entry:
Between the 12th of January and the 12th of March is 60 Days so the 27th of February and the 12th of March is my Two week window to get the extension. If I was to get the 30 day extension, I would only be able to use a Maximum of 18 days of the extension because I need to start my third and final entry before the 2nd of April. 18days would take me to the 1st of April and the 2nd of April is my Visa expiry date.

Third Entry:
Between the 1st of April and the 30th of May will be 60 days. So my Two week window would be between the 16th and the 30th of May. Getting this third and final extension would take me to the 28th of June this being my deadline day In Thailand?

If was to simplify things by not getting the 18 day extension during my second entry, but still getting the other 2 extensions. Would my deadline day be the 10th of June?

Is all this correct Please help me?

Also is the only place to get these extensions in Bangkok? Because I’m in Maesai Chiang Rai. That’s a 12 Hour drive from Bangkok, 24 Hours there and back.
It would make things a lot easier if there is one closer to home. If the only one is in Bangkok where is it and how do I make an appointment?

Thank you for all your help and please let me know if this calculation and understanding of how the visa works is correct.
I’m deeply sorry if I’m troubling everyone but I just don’t know whom else to turn to, thank you again.

-Elwood.

Extensions can be obtained at any local immigration office there will be one near where you plan to stay.

It looks correct to me. Last extension is up to you.

You can do your extensions at the Mai Sai immigration office.
