Seeing some of the complaints here i really wonder why some of you guys who i assume are most likely farang and speak english would want to trouble yourselves with a female that is of another race, culture, country and speaks a language that isn't closely related to english at all. How you find her countrymen so odd and behave so differently from the way people of your country behave and still persist in staying in thailand and persist in carrying on a relationship with a thai girl. I have to agree some what with the OP.

Have heard of lot's of problem case's more than the one's that go right.

I am English been married to an English girl lasted 3 years have had several lady friend's since then all English and all money grabber's or played around on the side.

Been coming to Thailand for many year's eventually met up with a Thai lady been an item for over 13 years now married.

Does she moan ask for monies well NO in fact quite the opposite save's me bundle's we laugh every day and I've never been so happy. Problems what problems.

It seems to me if you get on alright it doesn't matter what culture they are, you do have to get used to their quirky way's and they with yours, if you can do that you'll stand a good chance of it working out in the end.

There will always be one's that don't go right who's fault who know, the ladies that Farang's meet in bars are on for a slippery slide from the start you can never compare like with like.

Every relationship has it's ups and downs just go with the flow if it doesn't suit get out.

From what I see happening with my friends and their relationships (many same age couples, many Thai/Thai couples, several old/young couples), it's entirely normal for this country.

I'm basing my assumption on what I see, but also understand the experience of others will differ... All my Western Friends (who are in their 30's) are married to educated and respectable Thai ladies (also in their 30's). These relationships are very normal and equally as normal as any relationship back in the West or a Thai-Thai relationship... i.e. No fireworks, no money issue, no greedy or unfriendly extended family, no major issues which could be blamed on cultural differences....

Thus: Normality in relationships is what I have witnessed.

Of course I have seen the train-wrecks and been involved in a couple myself, but these are not long term relationships and are quickly exited, much like turbulent relationship in the West.

My guess is that the thread was started by someone in a very normal relationship who decided to 'voice' balance on an otherwise highly bias subject whereby only those who have problems appear to post, thus tipping the scales of opinion toward the negative which tarnishes all mixed relationships as problem relationships...

It only stands because of the situation and not the notion, not too many many baller Ferrari owning western guys living permanently in Thailand. If a large influx of those types started to move into Thailand from their pads in Monaco, New York and London do you think that rule would still apply?

I do not have more problems with my thai gf then any other one i had, it is all about a perfect balance of attention and ignorance.

Is this 4.95 marriages out of 1,000 marriages end in divorce? HELL NO! Who runs this site. The Vatican? 495 per 1,000 is probably closer, but still a bit shy of the real total.

I do agree with you anyway. Why marry any woman? It's just a three-way contract and the third (most powerful) entity usually makes things much worse, should something bad happen within the institution.
