Single Entry Tourist Visa

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I entered Thailand with a single entry 60day Tourist which has already been extended for a further 30days at the immigration office for 1900bht. Is there any way that I am able to stay beyond that 30days? Was thinking either border run or flight to Malaysia and back?

Thanks for any replies.

Depending on your nationality (visa exempt entry) your could do either or stay overnight somewhere to obtain a new tourist visa.

I'm British. So I can apply for a new tourist visa even if I am not in the UK?

Thanks

If you do a border crossing since you are from the UK you will get a 30 day entry now.

New rules.

Yes you can get another tourist visa.

So there is no problem entering again even though I was only on a single entry visa?

No problem.

Ok thanks. Where is best to go to apply for the new tourist visa?

Vientiane Laos (2 entry visa) or Penang Malaysia.

Is it a pretty straight forward and fast process to do?

Many thanks for your help.

You fill out application in morning and get visa next afternoon at most places. Very simple process. Have money and photos available.

Sounds pretty straight forward. So even if my visa is declined, I could still return to Thailand on just a basic 30day transit visa what you get when you enter normally?

You will get the visa without any problem. The 30 days is a visa exempt entry not a transit visa.

I did the same as the op a few years back (I'm Canadian). Got a single entry tourist visa in Hong Kong, extended it for 30 days, then went to Vientiene to apply for a double entry tourist visa. Got the visa I wanted without any problem, just as the previous posts have mentioned. Very straightforward and very easy.

No worries, you'll be fine.

That's great I thought it was 14 days over land to Laos it was back in april this year got only 14

Days hope it's now 30 be greAt can any one confirm this new rule

G-7 countries, plus Russia previously allowed, get 30 days on border entry. People are getting but no published notice has been found.

G7 countries all get 30-day entry visas whether by land crossing or by air now. This is since November 1, 2013. Rules published and presented by authorities here in Thai about 2 days later, if memory serves. But G7 all get the 30-days.

Please advise where the rules were published? We have been reporting this since end of October and have confirmed by action and spoken word but have not seen any official announcement yet. Would really appreciate an official source.

whistling.gif A single entry tourist visa gets you

one entry

one exit from that entry.

that's why they call it a single entry tourist visa.

You've already used the 30 day extension so you're out of luck.

You can either.................. reenter on a 30 day visa exempt entry (if your nationality qualifies)

or go to a neighboring country and reapply for another sinle entry or double entry tourist visa.

So I can't do a border run for an extra 30days?

Sent from my iPhone using Thaivisa Connect Thailand

You can get an extra 30 days as a new visa exempt entry - it has nothing to do with a tourist visa.

So that would class as just a simple border run to Cambodia and back?

Yes.

Can someone confirm whether the use-by date of a tourist visa is still two months from the date of issue? I'm planning on applying for my tourist visa at the end of this month but will only be using it a couple days before Christmas.

A tourist visa is valid for three months from date of issue. The two months (60 days) is the permitted stay for most nationalities and can be extended 30 days. Only the entry needs to be made during the validity of the visa.

A tourist visa is valid for three months from date of issue.

Ah ok. So it's three months from the date of issue, not two. Thanks, lopburi3. smile.png
