Bangkok Democracy Monument protesters declare strengthened rally Friday

The current government is fairly heavily stacked with Generals of one sort or another, perhaps this is an attempt to avoid a possible coup.

The Dems/Abhisit have been fairly quite over the last few days. Has Sutep been cut adrift? It certainly wouldn't do them any harm if he had been, or have they pumped him up as a leader only to be a sacrificial lamb if it turns pear shaped?

I think both pro and anti government protests are huffing a lot of hot air and all the rhetoric is falling on largely deaf ears as people are getting fed up with all of them. Carry on like this and they all lose. No bad thing if a new party is born without the stigma of these idiots. Perhaps a party of like minded folk who advocate the dismantling of the corruption structure, a party thats advocates representation of the constituencies that vote for them. A party that simplifies the legal mire (the one created by experts with the intention of complexity) so everyone understands. A party that advocates the full force of the law against any that have transgressed whilst holding public office, including the police, the military, public servants and politicians. This of course is the real revolution.

In TV they just told that the two children of Thaksin left Thailand with 17 suitcases each.

If it is true it would be very good news.

(I just got a rough translation because I wasn't in the room when they told it....just heard the Thais cheering)

Of course you've got confirmation now I take it. It's at least an hour ago now. Perhaps robby nz can look it up on his facebook rumours page for you?

They told it at the demonstrations, I repeat it, but I neither sit on the airplane, nor I have their phone number to ask them.

Red Shirts holding 3-day mass rally next week

By English News

BANGKOK, Nov 14 – Red Shirt activists will hold a three-day rally in suburban Bangkok, starting Monday, in a prelude to the Constitution Court’s judgement on the charter amendment.

Jatuporn Prompan, a leader of the United Front for Democracy against Dictatorship (UDD), claimed that he was tipped off on the court’s verdict, scheduled for next Thursday, concerning a charter review which calls for the election of all senators, and not with some appointed as stipulated in the present Constitution.

A bill to revise the charter was recently passed by Parliament, prompting the Democrat Party to petition the Constitution Court, charging that the election of all senators breached Section 68 of the charter.

If the court rules on Thursday that the charter amendment is against the Constitution, 312 MPs and senators who voted for the bill will immediately lose their parliamentary seats and political parties in the ruling bloc will be dissolved, said Mr Jatuporn.

He said that the Democrat Party’s announcement of civil disobedience has brought about chaos in the country, calling on the opposition to stop its protests now that the amnesty bill was rejected as demanded.

He said the UDD will organise a mass rally at Muang Thong Thani in Bangkok's suburb of Nonthaburi November 18-20 to closely follow the Constitution Court’s verdict. (MCOT online news)

For once I hope the idiot is right. Given his past record of knowledge he is 96% chance wrong.sad.png

If he is right it would be a great day for Thailand. he PTPredshirts would probably win the election but they would be looking at a lot less suport than they have now.

"He said that the Democrat Party’s announcement of civil disobedience has brought about chaos in the country, calling on the opposition to stop its protests now that the amnesty bill was rejected as demanded."

"Suspended" is what the PM says about the bill, but perhaps you probably know better than her. "Rejection" is what you will feel when your efforts fail to bring your Master home.

"Chaos" Well where were you four years ago?

His idea of civil disobedience is peace not what he practiced in 2010.

the man is a buffon and a sign of the desperation the PTPredshirts have sunk to. The court jester is back with all his gifts.

You're sure it's not the Judean Liberal Front?

Are you being naive again?

It's The People's Liberation Front of Judea for God's sake!!whistling.gif

They didn't have room for all that on the banner.

Oh! For the Life of Brian, why bother?facepalm.gif

What have I got to do with it?

funny how the protests here coincide with the time of year with the mildest weather.

Actually, the participants have been experiencing some very heavy downpours on an almost daily basis both at Democracy Monument & for the UDD at Muang Thong Thani, so the fact that there are still a large numbers present in both camps, shows their dedication to their causes I'd say.

The rainy season hasn't quite said goodbye just yet.

The former Surat Thani MP Suthep said that some of the civil disobedience measures were effective, citing the whistleblowing protest against a Cabinet member outside a hotel yesterday.

If this guy in any way is represantive for the alternative to the present government, Lord have mercy on Thailand!!

In a match between those two morons:

There will be no winners, only losers: The people of Thailand!sad.png

sad.png No doubt!

At some point, if the people had a decent education available & critical thinking was widespread, I would think having elected representatives would be a huge step forward.
