Retirement visa query - finance

Featured Replies

My retirement visa runs until April 2nd 2014 but the last time my bank statement was looked at was March 1st 2013. Does anyone know if the visa department will want to look at my bank statement on the 1st March 2014 or will they wait until 2nd April 2014?

It seemed odd at the time that they stamped my retirement visa for 13 months ahead.

Let's get some basics down first:

1. You are currently on an annual extension based on retirement obtained in Thailand, correct? (Not a retirement visa.)

2. You are using WHICH of these three possible methods to qualify for your extensions:

- 800K in Thai bank account seasoned (OR)

- Income letter from embassy (OR)

- Combination of above

???

I have never been asked to show bank statements per se. I go into my SCB branch on the day I'm off to immigaration and they give me (for the princely sum of a 100 Baht) a form, all pre printed for visa application, showing current balance and a minimum balance for the past 3 months. But I think to Jingthing's point, I'm using the account balance, not monthly income option

Extensions of stay start from current permitted to stay date in passport and as you normally do early it will be about 13 months later - you should make new application about the same time each year however so about 12 months between applications. You bank information is required for date of application time.

Yes, and if using the 800K baht in the Thai bank method, those funds must be seasoned for THREE months when it is not your first extension (two months for first ones). Meaning not going one baht under 800K during the entire three months before you show up for your application at immigration.

Always take your bank book. Even if you have 800K in the bank, they like to see activity as to what you are living on.

Bank book and copies are always required. There does not have to be any activity but if not you should have other proof of living expense available if asked
