Thaivisa.com from outside of Thailand

Featured Replies

Have any of the traveling expats/tourists noticed that when searching for things Thai related outside of Thailand, Thaivisa.com often does not come up in the search results or at least does not come up anywhere near the top. However, when performing searches in Thailand, the site is often at or near the top of the list?

Is there something going on here?

Surely it would not be in Thai tourism's best interest to see too much traffic from outside of Thailand to this sight as its honesty might put off many people?

Just throwing it out there.

If I'm searching for something online, an honest answer is pretty much what i'm looking for.

Search engines tend to prioritize things differently. TVF servers are not located in Thailand and very often your boolean search will return things closer to the IP address you are using to request the information on the mistaken assumption that the closer to you the more relevant it will be.

That being said, I tend to get TVF results near the top even when I am using a VPN located in the US or the UK because of how I phrase my searches.

I am quite sure, that Google uses the language settings and geolocation to sort/filter search results.

Sometimes very annoying.

If you want to do a google search on TV specifically, then add the follpwing to your search string:

-site:thaivisa.com

Results from Thai domain names (mostly in Thai):

-site:th

and many other ways to influence the search results.

Yeah, but an "honest answer" from a certifiable looney wouldn't really help you much.
