Visiting bkk in december

Featured Replies

Around the early week say like the 4th to the 15th just before x'mas and the festive season starts.

I heard that the 5th of dec is the king's bday and father's day in thailand so it's a holiday but is it crowded and the 11th is another holiday.

Both days will be relatively quiet. The King's birthday is a "dry" day.

I've lived in BKK, almost 3 years now.

I haven't seen a bad day to visit, except when it pours rain, and even then there's plenty to see and do.

In fairness, there is such a thing as "too much of a good thing", and it can get old. But if a vibrant, crowded, chaotic city atmosphere is your cup of tea, it's always a good day to visit BKK.

I wouldn't recommend coming to Thailand and ONLY seeing BKK, but...

So much the better if it's freezing cold back home in December.

I'm surprised i thought they had that massive celebration at that place the monument where the king appeared for the address last year.

That's actually good though i suppose.

Visited many parts of thailand already. Krabi for example, phuket and pattaya. You can see my krabi pictures in the travel section.

Reason why i would visit bkk even though i have been there the most number of times like i wouldn't visit krabi a 2nd time is cos it's the easiest place to visit in thailand obviously if you are a foreigner. It actually has the most things to do there compared to the other places. The country side gets boring real fast and i am a city guy so i really don't want to do the crap into a hole toilet which the country side has. Krabi was fun but there are only a number of times you want to snorkel in the sea. Plus most of my mates are in the city.

Oh yes i wonder if things will start to get crowded during the 2nd to 3rd week of december when x'mas is just round the corner they started putting up x'mas crap in the malls here.
