November 27, 201312 yr Hi have been on a ED visa for a year, but now I want a break from learning Thai, also I want to go back to the UK next year for a few months. My visa has the date of xmas day for when I need to go and report to immigration / pay my 5000b fees to school for another 3 months - can I leave the country and get a double entry tourist visa from Laos, or will there be problems with my ED visa? Do I need to inform anyone that I am stopping it? Edited November 27, 201312 yr by nickmanchester2
November 27, 201312 yr Leaving the country will cancel your extension. No problem to get a tourist visa.
November 27, 201312 yr You do not have an Ed "visa" because there is no such thing. What you have is an EXTENSION of your original entrance visa (the one you entered the country on originally) by reason of your education in Thailand (i.e. studying Thai). Failing to renew your extension means it ends. If you leave the country when your extension ends your visa also ends . You shouldn't have a problem getting a tourist visa in a neighboring country ...... unless you have a number of previous tourist visas in your passport. You need to check carefully though about the Christmas and New Years holidays, because they may be closed for those holidays. You will need to exit Thailand one the day yoi extension ends and get a new visa from the Thai consulate in that country to re-enter Thailand.
November 27, 201312 yr Author I have got 2 non O visas, 1 tripple entry tourist and this one is ed visa.... im very sorry, i mean extension to stay Sent from my GT-N7000 using Thaivisa Connect Thailand mobile app
November 27, 201312 yr Your previous visas and extension will not affect you getting the tourist visa. They only look for back to back tourist visas at the same location.
