Duty tax charges for Thailand

Featured Replies

Hi everyone,

I want to send some personal belongings to Thailand by sea freight for my own use.

I like to find out what is the tax duty for used electrical goods(hi-fi, speakers, DVD recorder, small electrical kitchen appliances) and clothing with shoes?

What is the easiest way to send them to Thailand without problems in Thai customs?

Thanks for helping me.

Just make sure all the electronics run on 220V/50hz!

I had a look at some of his previous posts and discovered he is from the UK so voltage should not be a problem.

You should know that there is 2 ways in doing an import to Thailand. Number one is that you do it all by yourself

and deal with the thaicustoms. The correct customs duty rates is in the Ubonjoe link I guess...

The second and most ordinary way to do it, is to let your customs broker deal with the customs. He will present you

with an "offer" from the customs, where you do not have to go to the customs at all, just supply them with a packinglist

and scanned copies of your passport.

For smaller shipment likes 3-4 m,3 there will be some 5-8.000 baht in" customs duty" and you do not have to show up at all

in Bangkok.

The risk of NOT accepting the corrupt way is that with bad luck with your own performance the customs may hit you big time

all depending on that day and the officers mode.....

Good luck..

I recently received a package of similar content from the UK (sent by DHL) and Thai Customs charged me 4800 baht.
