Leaving the country with a Non-B but no work permit

Featured Replies

OK, so I have a Non-B (90 days) but my school have not processed my documents in time to get a work permit so I need to go to the border for a 30 day visa. I have read I need a stamp from the Labor office or immigration to leave Thailand? Is this 100% accurate?

As you can imagine getting to either of these officers is not possible due to the current yellow shirt issue and my school has been closed for the last 6 days. My visa runs out on the 3rd. Any suggestions?

If your school didn't process the wp in time to get an extension, you need to go abroad and apply for a new non-B visa with all required paperwork.

If you just make a border run you will get 15 or 30 days (depending on nationality), but a work permit will not be issued on such entry.

I suggest you try getting to CW and get a 7 day extension. Reports as of yesterday it was not a problem to get there was no problem getting into the office. That would give you time to either get the work permit done or go out for another B visa.

Since you only have a visa entry you do not have to do anything before you leave. That is only needed if you are on an extension.

How do you plan on getting a 30 entry. Unless you are from a G7 country or one with a bilateral agreement you will only get 15 days at a border crossing.

I came in on a tourist visa that was converted into a Non-B. Is that classed as an extension? I have not received a work permit. Will I have a problem going through Poipet for example?

I will get 30 days as a UK citizen. My school has been closed and we have a new director so to say it is currently unorganized is an understatement.

No problem to leave. You did not get an extension. But I doubt they will do another conversion if you loose the non immigrant visa entry you have now.

I think I would do the 7 day extension if it was me.

You will get 30 days at poipet, but you must covert it to non-B again.

Easier to get a non-B at Vientiane.

FYI, last time around when the govt offices were shut down during protests, they granted grace periods and extensions. Don't assume they'll do it again. I'd check their website.

Hmmm I am more concerned that I overstay and that they won't let me out of the country. However, what you guys are saying is that as I don't have a WP then I don't have an issue leaving Thailand. Cool. Can you turn the 30 day version into a Non-B? I didn't think you could.

Conversion is possible, but often better to go and get a new non-B visa.

It might require travelling to Bangkok, possibly two times, and you need to have some time left on your permission to stay.
